As part of our continuing circumnavigation of Sicily, see, e.g. our recent reviews of Hotel Villa Ducale and Eremo della Giubiliana, we booked four nights at Villa Sicilia, a property advertised as a luxury resort located on a 200+ acre olive estate near Selinute. The website, several magazine articles, TripAdvisor contributors, and the high-end price gave us the impression that... More

Villa Sicillia is both old and new. A fresh concept in hospitality, referring back to the old ways of caring for valued guests. The hosts are completely committed to creating a special atmosphere of simple, true elegance underpinned by the unique and deep cultures of the region. The surrounding countryside is bucolic and beautiful and the nearby beaches are lovely,... More

We just cam back from a terrific trip to Sicily. This was the real Italy! Very un touristy, extremely friendly people, great food (like all of Italy) But what we were not expecting were the terrific beaches, ocean, towns, and landscape. Truly remarkable. If you are going to Sicily and you are a picky traveller, demanding the best accommodations, food,... More

The location is convenient for visiting the area. The suites are very comfortable and newly restored. The grounds are extensive with a fantastic infinity pool overlooking the Selinunte ruins. But what makes this place special is Emerico and the staff. The chef prepared some of the finest meals we've had in italy, which can be enjoyed on an outdoor patio... More

What more do I need to say? An old "baglio" fully restaured, in the midst of olive trees, wineyards, Greek temples, a beutiful sea, with a butler and a brilliant cook at your disposal? Should you feel a bit lazy, you can even indulge at the swimming pool, whilst being served your dose of "grillo" (local white wine). The food... More

When we were there (mid June) it was too hot (not usual for this time of the year): 42 C (108 F). As walking around wasn't pleasant at all, we could not fully enjoy the Baglio and the archeologycal sites nearby (we had to cut the visits short). The Baglio is very interesting and has a lot of history in... More

Baglio Villa Sicilia is a unique, quaint and very personal place where exceptional attention is paid to each and every detail. The sheer elegance of the suites, the delightful pool area with a marvelous view towards the Selinunte's temples as well as the tailor-made service all comptete with one another to offer each guest a very special stay. Those interested in staying at a standard 5-star dwelling should skip this and look further. Those who are looking for something out of the ordinary would miss out on a great opportunity by not taking Baglio Villa Sicilia into consideration. We stayed 7 nights in mid May and were absolutely enchanted by the Baglio, a tastefully restructured complex of original... More

Why is the Villa Sicilia unique? Set in an olive growing estate, the welcome from the owner, Emerico Amari is of a warmth and enthusiasm that we had never experienced anywhere else. He really couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome, and he shared his knowledge of the history of the area with us extraordinarily generously - to the... More
