We spent one night here in October. Rather hard to find at night, very dark with little lighting outside. The hosts were extremely hospitable and sweet. It was raining very hard when we arrived and our host insisted on bringing in our luggage and helped carried it up stairs. Even though it was quite late they even offered to prepare... More

St. George's is conveniently located just off the Trans Canada Hwy, about 1 1/2 hr from Port aux Basques. The Palace Inn was formerly the residence of the bishop so is next to the impressive old church. The church bell tolls the hour and I enjoyed lying in bed and having the bells confirm it was 7:00 so I knew... More

If you are looking for a quiet restful place to stay, the Palace Inn is NOT IT!!! While the Inn is in a small remote area of Newfoundland, unfortunately it is located right next door to a church which rings it's bells ALL NIGHT LONG.....Every Hour .....on the HOUR! To add to the noise factor, it is located across the... More

There are 6 rooms, 3 each on the second floor. There are 2 suites, 2 rooms with 2 double beds & 2 more with queen beds (may be kings but we never checked). It is an old house converted yet all of the old rooms are still there. The family room was below our room. Even during a family reunion... More

I stayed here in July 2009 (TripAdvisor won't let me choose further back than 2011) and really enjoyed it. We were in town for the Blueberry Festival and so many family members were returning for visits that a few of us stayed in B&Bs. This was when Patsy was running it. We had a really nice time.

The place was very clean, and the people "seemed" very polite. the rooms were kept in good order and cant really complain about anything physically wrong with the place. But after staying there only one night, we got accused of stealing a box of jewelery. only to find out a day later that they had found it themselves and that... More

Given the fact that there are really very few choices in and around Stephensville, the fact that The Palace inn is available as an option is a very pleasant surprise. The Inn, which is under new management, is run by a very nice couple, Ivan and Loretta. They are quite accomodating, very pleasant, and easy to chat with if you're... More

This is a great stop! Only about an hour and a half of driving after crossing over the ferry from Sydney to Port au Basque, NL. This is a beautiful and roomy B and B! the website photos do not do it justice! We had arranged for a room in advance and all was ready and very neat, clean and... More

The Palace Inn is under new ownership (Ivan & Loretta Fost). I think they have been there since March and live down stairs - Ivan helped the us take our luggage to our room and we had a great 2 night stay - Breakfast the 1st morning was more than we needed so the 2nd morning we asked for and... We arrived around 6pm to check in to the Palace Inn only to find that the place was closed. I called the number that I had and a young man answered and said that the owner had cancelled all the reservations after labour day weekend via email. He said that he was nearby and would let us in for the... More
