We went to Unguja in January as the end part of our safari and were we would get married!! The safari was amazing and we did not think our trip could get any better however Unguja did not dissappoint. We had a sea view villa where we would have our cuppa T facing the sea (delivered each morning to our... More

We had an excellent time in Unguja! This is on our top 5-list! This place just had a very personal touch and an extremely committed staff - thank you Ralph, Lies and Nick! We felt very well taken care off in every aspect! Food was excellent with a lot of variety and I would recommend to go full board! Worth... More

Unguja Lodge offers an fantastic atmosphere, built with local found materials the place breaths African atmosphere. It is a suburb balance between an open air Zanzibar experience and Western comfort. The food is excellent and local. If you fancy pizza, steak, chips... stay away and leave it to us to enjoy it...YES WE LIKE. The hotel's own Paddy center run... More

Next stop on our trip was Unguja, which we had selected as a bit of luxury in a part of Zanzibar we have not been to before (spent a lot of time on the island in the past). We got a taxi from the street (way cheaper than organising transfers from hotels before arriving) for the 1 hr trip from... More

I am a Pure Zanzibar agent and I stayed at Unguja Lodge in November 2011. This resort is really what Zanzibar is all about, relaxed, traditional, friendly and charming. The location is idyllic, surrounded by nature, with the most delightful sunsets. The villas are well spread out and offer lots of privacy, the design is very unique with a high... More

We enjoyed the beautiful setting of Unguja Lodge, its sand just like talcum-powder and warm sea! I originally felt a bit concerned about the lack of a permanent beach (as other reviewers have mentioned), but this was never a problem (we are more into swimming and snorkelling than sunbathing anyway!). When the tide was out, it felt like having your... More

We have just spent ten days at delightful Unguja Lodge, and would highly recommend it as a peaceful, relaxing holiday destination. Ralph and Eliese, the owner/managers, are excellent hosts and they and their staff (all unfailingly smiling, polite and friendly) make the guests feel most welcome – all of which all goes to create a very happy atmosphere. The hotel... More

We spent 8 nights here following a 3 day safari and it wasn't long enough. The photographs and brochure description do not do this tranquil paradise justice. We arrived at lunchtime, hot and dusty from our safari to be greeted warmly by Elies and provided with cold towels and a cool drink both of which were most welcome. We were... More

A delightful place to stay! Ralph and Elies the owners were very welcoming and clearly set very high standards. Staff were all excellent without exception - friendly and polite, keen to give good service. Thank you very much for this wonderful review. It was a pleasure getting to you know you during your stay with us last month. I am very sorry your snorkelling trip was disappointing because of the bad visibility and the jellyfish! The visibility is affected by the weather: if it rained or especially when it has been windy the visibility... More
