Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Waverley International Hotel had decent sized quiet rooms with fully working facilities. Breakfast was reasonably affordable and it is located close to hundreds of good places to eat and shop. Reception was very helpful and quick. Would stay again.

Have stayed here many times and their rooms are fairly average. Comfortable yes, but in good repair? Not so much. Firstly we specifically asked for the disabled room as my husband was in Melbourne for surgery, but no, we didn't get it. Our room had an over-bath shower which my husband couldn't get into. I then took photos of the toilet, sink & bath which all had cracks in the porcelain and reported it to reception just so we wouldn't be held accountable at the end of our stay. The drapes were old and not affixed to the curtain runners properly. BUT, the staff were friendly and welcoming. All in all, it's all very average, but for budget accommodation you can't expect much else.

My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights over the long weekend and won’t be retiring. Negatives Mould on the roof Mattress and pillows so hard that you couldn’t actually have a restful sleep Booked a twin room, ended up with a queen bed and when raised with reception they added a rollarbed which was also hard and unpleasant to sleep on. Breakfast was very basic, continental only. Rooms dated and in need of refurb Pros Heater worked well Easy car parking Friendly staff Overall I think very basic motel style accommodation.

Service & quality very much deteriorated. One light bulb in room & after advising reception staff were moved to another room. Bathroom old but kind of clean, shower floor damaged. Dining table dirty, cleaned it myself. Curtains closed but falling down. Noise from main road deafening. This place needs some serious attention - not only to the cleanliness and maintenance of rooms, but the customer service might need some future investment too.

Pleasant enough. No toaster but microwave supplied. No crockery and only small teacups. 2 seater couch is grotty, everything else is clean and in good condition. Staff pleasant. Premises easy to find and good parking.

It was not the prefect time to travel during this pandemic, however, the friendly staff from this hotel made my business trip a very pleasant experience. The staff are wearing masks and the room has the light dis-infect smell, which made me feel much safer during my stay. The staff also spent quite some time explained the surrounding to me to help get around more easily. The only downside would be the limited opening hours of the reception, but it's understandable during the tough time for all businesses. Overall a great experience!

this place is trying to get people to commit fraud. i booked online for a room under my name and with my debit card only to be told when i arrived at the hotel that my brother was booked into the room. I showed that i have the booking on me with my name and my bank statement and the amount for the room taken out and said i never booked the room for him she turned the computer to me showing me that the room is in my brothers name. She wouldnt let me check in unless he shows his id. I then told her that my brother has stayed there before and that its a mistake in there system and hotels shouldnt be making those mistakes. My brother showed up at the hotel to tell her he wasnt staying there. I dont think that its right that i show the id of someone whos not staying in the room and i wasnt comfortable with staying at the hotel anymore and wanted a refund. I payed for the room for me using my debit card and they want someone else whos not staying at the hotel to show there id for me to stay there. I booked the room for a week and the manager refuses to give any money back as she said the booking was non refundable. i explained that if a hotel has a computer system that is saying that someone who booked there previously with the same last name is having to show there id for me to stay there that thats a good enough reason for me to get a refund. I even said that they can the money for a night and give the rest back but she wont give any back. Sounds like one big scam.

Although a hiccup when we arrived (for our 4 night stay) was dealt with by staff in an extremely professional and friendly manner. Cannot speak highly enough of the staff. The room quite comfortable and restaurant, although limited menu, food delicious and great value. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to Melbourne.
