My husband and I were traveling with two other couples, stopping for several nights in the Loire Valley enroute to Paris. We were all absolutely delighted when we arrived at Le Prieure. It looked like a fairytale small castle surrounded by beautiful scenery and views of the river. The rooms we had in the main chateau were wonderful. We really... More

I'll start with a small negative, then on to many, many positives. Our room was in the main chateau building and it was out of a fairytale, soaring ceilings, giant stone fireplace...however the bathroom while clean, really needed a reno. Beds are small but comfortable. Some of the many positives: Impeccable, traditionally French service throughout the establishment; knowledgeable sommellier; amazing... More

Franch version of motel in old casttle. Nice service, good food. View is great. All equip is a little old. Nice place for family kids with.Breakfast is good. For dinner you need to find place outdoors, because of small choise of food here.

My husband & I recently stayed at Le Prieure for one night whilst traveling through France. We found the Chateau a total delight with the highlight of our stay choosing to dine in the restaurant. We enjoyed a most memorable meal with the very best of service provided. A silver service gastronomic feast for the taste buds! A must do... More

The old world charm of the surroundings, with the view of the River Loire from the terrace is breathtaking. Since discovering Le Prieure in 2000 we have tried to visit most years. We have supped aperitifs on the terrace in the summer listening to jazz, and on very special occasions have enjoyed the most amazing meals, which always surpass our... More

This hotel was originally an old priory, then a house and became a hotel after the war. In the 1950s a big dining room and many of the bedrooms were added on. Its a slightly odd hotchpotch of a place. Overall the hotel felt like it was in about 1980. The big plus point is an elevated view over the... More

We stayed at the Residences, not in the Chateau itself. Pros: wonderful view (from the reception and bar/restaurant), very calm and peaceful, extremely spacious rooms (my 2 year old daughter had an annex to the room with her own hotel teddy bear and lamp). Cons: very petit breakfast - we were entitled to one small croissant and one small pain... More

I wanted to thank you for your kind comments on trip advisor with regards to your recent stay. I’m really pleased to read that you had a very nice stay and you enjoyed to be in our Hotel, except the room located in the Old Chapel! Please note that the room you had is one of the largest. Le Prieure was a former monk priory. It was built hundreds of years ago. It is located on a hill overlooking the Loire River. The location was perfect. The hotel includes a main house, the church (which houses rooms) and some motel like rooms. Definitely stay in the main house. We had a good size room with a good sized... More

Restaurants where only the "patriarch" gets a menu with prices are rare (now and in days gone by.) The food was pricey, but exquisitely good, with much attention to artful presentation. As Americans, we're not well versed in Old School French. We had fun making the waiter chuckle, and marveling at practices we're not accustomed to. (Quietly, of course.) I... More
