Myself and 7 walkers stayed after walking on South Downs Way. My ground floor double room was very clean and had all facilities needed (hot water, hair dryer, tea & coffee). Could do with a better mattress. Food in evening was great and breakfast was hearty. Landlord also made us tasty baguettes to take for packed lunch. Service friendly and... More

Good basic accommodation with good bathroom and lots of hot water. The food for dinner was excellent - the chef had cooked us a top quality meat pie. Breakfast also excellent. Really good value and perfect for walkers needing rest recovery and sustenance.

Recently had an evening meal. . We received a very warm welcome , & very quick an attentive service - top marks for trying , but unfortunately the food was disappointing - I asked for a med / rare steak & it was cooked to a crisp . The puddings were better than the main courses . We all had... More

Enjoyed our overnight stay at this excellent B&B. Room very comfortable, real service with a smile and good quality bar menu. Breakfast and Sunday lunch equally good. Owners veyr friendly and make you feel very welcome. We intend to stay again when next visiting family in the area.

Everything about the room was new and fresh, even the carpets - we were told they refurbish every autumn. The room was cool with optional heating, which we find more comfortable than being overheated. Bar food was good, and very good value. We were lucky to be there for their fortnightly Friday pub quiz - very entertaining and well run.... More

My friend and I had been walking the South Downs and were warmly welcomed to a pub in a beautiful village.. A lovely deep bath awaited, and much appreciated. A goood evening meal with plenty of real ale served by a great barmaid ! Breakfast was served in a friendly manner. no complaints at all.

Like so many other reviewers, this was my first stop after a day walking the South Downs Way! The restricted check-in hours were not ideal, though as it was a damp day, there was a phone number on the door to call to arrange early access, which I really appreciated but had not expected. The room was a double, I... More

My partner and I recently walked the South Downs Way and the Buck's Head was our first stop. I can't fault the service - it was warm and welcoming. The food was decent, hearty, honest pub food - just what we needed after a day walking. However, at £75 for the room I have to say that it was just... More

Nice rooms and reasonable value at £75. In the evening we ate and drank well, in the morning the breakfast was quite adequate. The owners had made sure we could get in early and had put the heating on in our rooms - it had been a very, very wet day for walking.

Stayed for one night in a family room. The room was a good size and very comfortable. We advised Maggie we would arrive when the pub was closed (between 15:00 and 18:00) and arrangements were made for key collection. The pub is traditional, relatively small and family friendly. Our stay was perfect. The breakfast was superb, with cereal and a... More
