My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this hostel on Tripadvisor, then checked it out when we first arrived in Belize. The owners and their pet cats are wonderful! The other works are as well. Their little treetop bar area with a handmade roof is super chill and they happy hour prices are unbeatable. We stayed in a 14-person dorm, which... More

First time in Belize and hopkins is our first stop on the trip. I accidently made reservations for for the night before we got there, but Will (the owner) was very friendly and very accommodating to us. This is a wonderful, clean, chill and fun hostel with an awesome treetop bar and restaurant and would have liked to stay there... More

We stayed 4 nights in Funky Dodo, Hopkins in 10 people. We used it mainly as a base for our trips and it was ideal for it. It's not 5-star hotel, but for sleeping it is enough, good location few metres from beach and nice bar, where we got great meals and drinks for cheap. Overall, Funky Dodo is a... More

So we roll into Hopkins and we see the Funky Do Do. It wasn't the greatest of looking places. When checking in with the drunk and stoned owner we got a room that was filthy with garbage laying around. The windows couldn't keep mosquito s out. The floor was just a slab floor with half inch gaps so the crawlers... More

Hello. I remember you. You form part of the very few people to whom I nearly refused entry to. When you arrived you barged in to the room exclaiming in some colorful language that you would not stay here and stormed out again without saying hello to me or any of the staff. You were very aggressive and when you... More

The upstairs bar is a new addition to the rooms. It is upstairs and open, so you get a nice breeze. The bartender was very friendly and service was good. Beers were cold and the prices were very good. A few of the other guests were using their laptops as they sat. Cozy and comfy.

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting Hopkins. Great atmosphere and really fun bartender! The dorms are decent with fans and it wasn't loud. The bar upstairs is a fun hangout for people staying here and for people not. Lots of fun and Loraine truly speaks truth to power :) The guy running the place (while the owners were... More

After passing through Hopkins on my way to Honduras, I easily decided to do the same on the the back: great place to stay, fantastic hosts, nice food and a totally cool bar. And Will and Joanna even gave me a ride to Dangriga, awesome!

Stayed in a private room that was decent enough even tho the roof leaked and one of the beds was a bit wet because of that. The shared showers only had cold water and were quite small and there was a lot of stuff (empty shampoo bottles, underwear, towels etc.) left behind by other guests. The main complaint we had... The hostel is very friendly and well run. Their is an excellent little bar and the staff serve up some very good and very cheap food. The dorm is clean, the beds are comfy and the bathroom facilities as good as any your likely to find in the central american 'hostel scene'. It really has the personal touch too, Will... More

I stayed at the Funky Dodo for 3 nights in early March. We had a full house with 14 in the dorm room but I slept just fine with earplugs in. We enjoyed a number of meals, served by friendly staff, making new friends at the newly opened restaurant bar which I can attest to does shut down at 12... More
