We stopped in Tarbert on our way to Islay. We were only there for one night. Struan House was a very good choice - we wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts were very kind and friendly. The food was delicious for breakfast. And we had dinner there as well - wonderful pasta dish with scallops and chorizo -... More

We very much enjoyed our stay at Struan House. A warm welcome and comfort and very tasty and varied breakfasts as well. The restaurant downstairs has delicious food and is very good value (with substantial portions) and John and Kristen are very interesting folk. Definitely 5 star plus.

Food is excellent in the bistro - don't wait until your last night to try it as we did, because you'll regret it!! Gluten-free options are available including bread at breakfast if you ask in advance and pizzas and pastas for the bistro. The gluten-free seafood pizza was blindingly good. We were lucky to get the view out over Tarbert... More

Lovely B&B in this cosy harbour village. Our room was lovely - the Arran. Great view over the little fishing boats in the harbour. Excellent hosts and the kippers at breakfast were delicious, the bistro is gorgeous and lots of stylish touches. Such a pity we weren't able to eat dinner there - but next time we most certainly will.... More

Despite it being the first week in February and very cold outside, the house and room were very cosy. As I was working outside during the days, I really appreciated the hot shower and most comfortable accommodation at Struan House. The breakfasts were excellent and set me up for the efforts of the day.

We booked a month in advance and had my 6 week old, 19 month old, sister, mum and niece who was 17 weeks old. We had to all put on as much clothing as possible as it was freezing! It was a cold spell of weather just before christmas. At breakfast the owner asked how we had slept, we told... More

Apologies again. We have apologised to these guests for a genuine problem. We have a new heating system and at first I thought it would be a stuck radiator pin causing a problem. I then found that the isolating valve had been turned down rather than the thermostat. This upsets the balance of the system. This would have been a... More

... is exactly what John and Kristen did to make our wedding weekend perfect! We booked out all 6 rooms for family and everyone was comfortable and well looked after. We could come and go as we pleased. It was a home from home- being comfortable and clean with everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble and when John... More

John and Kristen run a very nice little B&B, ideal position overlooking the harbour (albeit the working part), very comfortable rooms, and friendly and accommodating hosts. Their downstairs bistro gave us probably the best meal of our two weeks in Scotland. Breakfast was fine and nicely cooked, although we too found the guest-operated-toaster not only unique but not ideal. Whilst... More

Thank you for this review. It's refreshing to see a balanced constructive review. I am happy to report that we have replaced the older toaster and have a nice shiny red replacement. Very retro... We still provide self service with the toast which allows guests to have it when they choose. It is not unusual to have self service on... More

Great location on the harbour, excellent smells from the Struan's delicious bistro greeted us on our hungry arrival from our cycle ride. Kristen stored our bicycles securely in the next door shop, so no problem with parking! Bedrooms (one double, one single) comfortable, and even though we didn't have a harbour view, the view of the stone wall and greenery... More
