Stayed in the Anglesey hotel w/c February 6th, the hotel itself is still: work-in-progress, but the staff more than make up for any minor gripes. In all : a very enjoyable stay, the staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful, the food good and the service prompt, would stay there again when in the area. Thanks guys. More

The Sunday roast my family and I had at The Anglesey Hotel was without a doubt the closest to a 'home cooked roast' that we had eaten, the staff were really delightful and the cost was very good. More

We booked in to this delightful family run hotel as our son and one of his mates were running in the BUPA Great South Run in Southsea. I had taken advice from a friend in Alverstoke who had suggested forgetting about Southsea as the traffic would be manic - how right he was!! A simple 5 minute ferry ride takes... More

A one night stay, good bar although it ran out of some wine and port the night we stayed. My room was small but well equipped, clean and adequate. Not much else in Gosport but recommended if you are passing through, it is in the up Market part of town, picturesque and quiet. More

This hotel is well situated to the sea front for walks and delightfull views across the water. having read some of the negative views, the owner has spent much in improving the hotel, including installing a lift and giving the property a "facelift" addressing these issues. Staff were pleasant, Sam take a bow, and perhaps a carded sign at the... More

I took pot luck with the Anglesey when stuck in Gosport overnight. Pleasnat hotel undertaking improvements, clean and comfortable but still needs more work to bring it right up to modern standards. Good room and meals (dinner and breakfast), more staff needed I think and reception is a small hatch with views through to chaos of the admin office beyond,... More

Arrived at the hotel no one to give us keys had to wait no bell to bring attention. Went to room it was very small, no hook on door to hang a coat. The lamp shade looked like it had never been cleaned it was full of dust. The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor,... More

This was a lovely hotel in a Georgian Terrace with a beautiful garden across the road. We were offered a choice of rooms which was fantastic. The furniture was interesting and the room very comfortable, The walls were quite thin and we had to ask the neighbours to keep their noise down but the view was wonderful. We could sea... More

Alverstoke village, just outside Gosport, is a quaint treasure amidst the naval scenery of the area. the hotel is simply stunning from the outside and us gradually being upgraded inside too. Room 101 at the front is wonderful with huge bathroom and 4 poster. Good food and nice lively local bar. Worth a visit! More
