Great Lodge overlooking Lake Ohau with a very rustic and authentic feel about the place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent - we recommend the Cyclist Lunch Platter. Nice selection of wines. We had dinner both nights and both were excellent. The room was not large but had everything we needed and a bath in the bathroom was a plus.... More

We phoned up to book a table for lunch for three. The reception was clear and welcoming. When we arrived right on time we were the only three for lunch that day. Louise, the proprietoress, had taken it upon herself not to set up our table in the dining room where we would have seemed somewhat lonely. Instead she set... More

We were pleasantly surprised at this lodge. Surrounds so beautiful with lovely walks and I believe cycle tracks. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. However downstairs room was a bit noisy with children running on the above verandah. Perhaps a room on the first floor would be better. A bit expensive but did include... More

We were booked into this lodge as part of our Active New Zealand hiking trip and it was absolutely wonderful. The setting is spectacular, the lodge is charming, and the owner and staff are very welcoming. The view from our room (and maybe all the rooms) is stunning, out over Lake Ohau and the mountains surrounding it. It is simple,... More

We stayed in the Upper South Temple wing for one night only in the off season. The lodge only had a few guests. The lodge is a bit dated, which doesn't really affect your stay but at the price, perhaps we expected a little more. The rooms were very comfortable, did not have aTV and you had to pay for... More

For us, Lake Ohau Lodge was the find of our Easter trip to North Otago. The location is nothing short of spectacular, and our room looked straight out onto a mesmerising view of the lake and mountains. The hosts, Mike and Louise, were helpful, friendly, and hard-working. We had a delicious 3 course dinner and full breakfast, all part of... More

14 of us stayed our last night on the Alps2Ocean cycleway. I last stayed here in 1973 and it is still full of character, has a wonderful feel, great staff, great food and excellent value for money. Louise was great to deal with organising our booking online and our group stayed together in the Huxley wing where we very comfortable.... More

Stayed here for a friends wedding and loved it. I've visited Ohau on several occasions but never actually visited the lodge - I've been missing out! The place is full of character and the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. The people running the place are doing a fantastic job.

This lodge is right on one of the South Island's beauty glacier lakes, and is quite a stunning, isolated property. Be prepared for no telephone reception, or wi-fi, or TV, or radio though! Totally cut off, so it's a great place to escape from reality. The rooms as basic but comfortable, and the lodge has a wide range of back-to-basics... More

Such a beautiful location isolated from all the noise of everyday life, great views and a friendly welcome from this family hotel. Rooms and food were good and sitting out and watching the stars without light pollution was a treat. Would have loved another couple of nights there.
