Three of us descended on Suffolk for a girls trip away and we were absolutely delighted with the accommodation at Haughley House. The welcome was as warm as they come, rooms were a great size and very comfortable, not to mention spotlessly clean! Breakfast was first rate and the dinner provided one evening was super. The location was perfect for... More

We were visiting Suffolk in order to attend a music workshop. On arrival at Haughley House, we received a warm welcome, despite the bitterly cold weather outside. Jeffery and Caroline bought us tea and cake in the lounge as we sat in front of the roaring log fire to warm up. The four poster room was lovely- very comfortable. We... More

If you like late medieval accommodation with character then you'll appreciate Haughley House. From the minute you enter the large hall you will see that everything therein is in keeping with its age. The bedrooms are a good size and well equipped along with some very nice personal touches. Having made menu choices the night before one finds a nicely... More

We stayed at Haughley House for three nights. It was bitterly cold weather but the welcome was a warm one in every respect. We were given tea and cake by the fire and, later that evening, we much enjoyed the sumptuous meal that we had pre-arranged in the beautifully laid out dining room. On retiring, we slipped into our turned-down,... More

We thank Gomersson for his kind review; with regard to the comment concerning the water pressure in the shower, the hot water comes from the cylinder so there is no power wash but at least it is hot and wet! Regards Jeffrey Bowden More

I stayed at Haughley House in January 2013 and enjoyed all aspects of my stay. The weather was -5 outside so it was lovely to be greated by two open log fires. My welcome was so warm that I decided to forgoe the local pub and settled down in front of a roaring log fire with a glass of wine... More

I stayed for 2 nights (business trip) and enjoyed the experience. The house has a historic background, the place is spotlessly clean, the breakfast was well cooked and the bed very comfortable. A few things to be aware of are (these are not grips, just for future visitors awareness) 1. The location is Haughley village; it's not actually in Stowmarket... More

We would like to thank Johnpc_ltd for his review. Two comments we would like to make. Firstly the long case ( grandfather) clock does chime on the hour which it has done for 243 years, but it is accurate to within a few seconds a week! Secondly we were given 3 out of 5 for value, we would be able... More

Lovely house - made special by little touches such as fresh flowers in the bathroom, pretty accessories on the dressing table & a flask of milk for early morning tea. Excellent food, especially the bacon at breakfast, all from their own pigs / hens / garden. We received a warm welcome from Jeffery & Caroline despite arriving unexpectedly at 10.00am... More

An idyllic setting, quiet and peaceful within a delightful village, helped by wonderful weather which meant we could use the gardens for relaxing. The food served was excellent, our evening meal was a simple menu but the quality of the ingredients made the experience in the grand dining room quite memorable. Beware the chiming clock which by day is charming... More

We would like to thank Chris D for their review. As to the food being simple, it is not for me to comment, but for the reader to decide for themselves. We do not have the technical expertise of the likes of Gordon Ramsay but we do use the finest ingredients. Canapes included olives in cheese pastry and The menu... More

We stayed three nights whilest visiting family in the area. Lovely house, full of character, good facilllities and immaculately clean. Made very welcome. Good pubs locally and ideal location from which to explore the area. Beds very comfortable - we both slept really well. Good venue if you fancy spoiling yourselves as not cheap for a B&B. However Geoffrey and... More
