This place has everything you could reasonably ask for in an astronomy bed & breakfast: comfortable room, fine breakfast, clear skies (usually), beautiful surrounding landscape, and a genial host who enthusiastically gives you informative sky tours on his 14-inch telescope. And there's more! For a small extra charge you can join Tom and his friend(s) at his dinner table, where... More

As the other reviews note, this is a unique opportunity to have a serious amateur guide you through the sky. Tom showed us globular clusters, binary stars and nebulae. The next morning he showed us the sun through a special telescope. Tom's house is lovely and is set on a grassy meadow overlooking the mountains. My only disappointment was that... More

A must see and a chance of a lifetime! Try to visit with a small moon as the stars will be even more visible. While waking up through out the night and waiting for the moon to not be present, the views were breathtaking. Stars from horizon to horizon a literal surrounding. The telescope sessions were outstanding and gained and... More

The Shooting Star Inn is a great B&B 20 miles north of Flagstaff. Tom Taylor built the house and the telescopes he uses to present guests the night sky. The house is logs and wood and very attractive. When we arrived, we sat with Tom in his kitchen while he served us tea. Tom also cooked breakfast and ate with... More

I don't want to sound like a total spoiled brat, but I don't do camping and would never have agreed in staying in a B&B if not for my loving husband's birthday wish. If you are into astronomy and astrophotography like my husband is, this very isolated B&B would be your top choice when visiting Grand Canyon. Yes, the shower... More

My family stayed with my brother's famiforums what a great place to hang out and catch up. Tom and Amy were great hosts. The personal connection with music, the stars, and nature all came together here. Out of the heat of Flagstaff with great open views and a breeze, and a fabulous open concept space with a great vibe. Highly... More

Recent trip to Grand Canyon area. Most things, including the Grand Canyon itself, left my sullen teenage sons unfazed. Not so Shooting Star Inn. The cabin itself is beautiful, the food was great, but the star-gazing and the talk through the evening was superb. Tom is a fascinating guy, and seems to genuinely enjoy sharing himself and learning about his... More

If you have wondered what you might see, looking through a great telescope under some of the darkest, clearest skies in the United States, then A Shooting Star Inn is definitely a place to visit. The Inn’s location is very rural, about twenty miles from Flagstaff (a city already praised in its own right for fabulous dark skies), at about... More

Tom's hospitality is home away from home. We woke each morning to a yummy breakfast and both nights we ate at the inn. We had a chef's meal, then Tom sang to us with his guitar. Later, we looked at the stars through a high-powered telescope. It was a very romantic, laid-back evening. Tom's place is the place to go... More
