After a great stay here several years ago we were enthusiastic about staying again to take advantage of the terrific location, reasonable prices and cute, authentic, historic properties. Staying with my husband this time instead of a galpal, we needed only one bedroom so rented 123 Mackenzie #D. The unit itself would have been OK - it was extremely authentic Santa Fe adobe with concrete floors, decent sized - but it was difficult to pull up to on the long narrow driveway, almost impossible to back out of, it was poorly maintained, and situated in what looked like a little garbage dump. Doorknobs were falling off, the front door was in shreds and the "front yard" was just a bunch of stones with some dingy patio furniture deposited in the space. Before even opening the front door we were very disappointed, especially in comparison to the two bedroom unit on Staab we'd had last time. Jodi was extremely accommodating about letting us move to a nicer, larger, brighter unit on Staab at no additional cost, so it turned out alright. But if that hadn't been available, and she hadn't been so agreeable, we'd probably have left. The only way to contact management is via the phone number indicated on a sign on the door, the website and the confirming email we received had a number with a non-working voice mail box. That too made me nervous, though again, it turned out alright. If your main concerns are location, ample space and an original Santa Fe feel, you would probably enjoy the units on Staab. If you want daily maid service, management on the property and deluxe furnishings, look elsewhere.…
