Shangri-La is a fictional place from the 1933 novel Lost Horizon and it fits El Presidio perfectly. It is an earthly paradise surrounded by mountains, a happy place, isolated from the outside world with a beautiful garden, and a lovely water fountain. You can sit and relax there after a long day of sightseeing. The owner Patti, is a wonderful... More

We recently had the pleasure of spending a week in the Tucson area, and were delighted to have been led to El Presidio, without doubt the loveliest B&B where we've ever stayed. The charm of the place lies not only in its beautiful inner courtyard garden, or the comfortable and tastefully appointed rooms, or even the delicious breakfasts - never... More

I was recently wisked away for a stay in downtown Tucson. Who would have thought that a place so restful and charming could be found so close to where I had worked for many years! The patio filled with trees and flowers is so colorful, you almost feel like you are in Mexico. There is so much to see and... More

This is a beautiful property in the historic district of Tucson, within easy walking distance to downtown and historic sites. The owner/ hostess, Patti, is very warm and welcoming. There are only 4 units and guests eat at a common table for breakfast, which makes for a cozy atmosphere. Patti's breakfasts are tasty and generous. Our room was much larger... More

Spent two nights there and had a wonderful time. The garden would be worth it on it's own, but the rooms and breakfast were also top notch. The innkeeper is efficient and helpful.Great location for exploring downtown or attending an event. After a play at the music hall we were able to stroll back without having to worry about driving... We chose El Presidio Inn on the internet and didn't know anything about it beyond what the site describes and what previous reviewers had written. We were not disappointed! Our first glimpse of the beautiful courtyard sold us completely. Even while seeing Tucson skyscrapers in the distance, we felt completely secluded in this peaceful, lovely spot with plenty of seating,... More

On a windy, cold January day in Alberta, I was reading my latest e-newsletter from the Tucson Festival of Books (we had attended in 2010), and began Tucson dreaming. We had stayed with friends on our previous visit, and had no idea where to stay. Two things drew me to El Presidio--the courtyard, and the availability of a suite suitable... More

Central location; charming and historic; sincere hospitality; top-class breakfast. My wife and I [from the UK] stayed 3 nights at El Presidio in February. The website accurately describes and portrays the property. The host Patti Toci had been very helpful on the phone and by email, and other reviewers had already spoken highly of her. She was immensely kind and... More

Just returned home to Mesa after 2 days at El Presidio Inn. A real joy. The house and courtyard are more than relaxing. The room was cheerful and comfortable, the breakfasts were terrific, the bacon is the best. The best part is enjoying the courtyard with the fountain and floral abundance. BEAUTIFUL ! Wandering around the historial section of Tucson... More
