A group of friends from 17-24 got together and rented this amazing Villa on the fiord about 10 minutes from Kotor. It sleeps up to 14 with 4 bathrooms and a fantastic terrace with amazing views of the mountains reflected in the water. We swam from breakfast until the early hours and hardly left the Villa other than to shop or sometimes go on the boat we rented which we moored right outside the front door. We had the most amazing holiday, fab night clubs and bars in Kotor but mainly we partied at the Villa which is well appointed and recently done.

If you are travelling in this region visit Stari Bar (Old Bar) set back from the port, up into the mountains. Local buses and taxis can take you there if you don't have car hire. It's a lovely, small, traditional mountain town - I think that Friday was the day for the open air market when people come down from the hills to sell local produce. There's also the ruin of the old Venetian (then Ottorman) walled city which is gradually being renovated following over a century of neglect and earthquakes.

We had a very enjoyable 9 days in this small family run apartment complex in the nice little city of Bar. The accommodation is new, very clean, spacious with comfortable beds, air conditioning and a well equipped separated kitchen - this is very important as you don't get fridge noise and food smells in the sleeping areas. There is plenty of parking (needless to say you need a car in Montenegro). Lillia the owner and her daughter Nikoleta - two charming young ladies are lovely hosts who will make you feel at home and help in any way they can. Lillia can show you where to buy today's fish catch, freshly made cheese and fresh fruit at local prices. It is a very good base to explore the south of Montenegro and the massive Skadar Lake which is only about a 30 min drive from this accommodation. There are numerous small bays for swimming and beautiful mountain terrain to trek and mountain bike in, the latter being visible from the apartments. About 7 minutes drive you will find the oldest olive tree in Europe at over 2000 years old and it looks it too!! If you are feeling adventurous you can catch the ferry which is a 7 minute drive from the apartments and go to Bari-Italy for a weekend, it is a 10 hour crossing. …
