I stayed here for 10 days. It is an 1890 building furnished with antiques and very old furniture. It is kind of like visiting your grandma's house. I would describe it as clean but shabby. It was the least expensive place I could find in New Orleans, therefore I could stay longer. The people were the high point of my... More

Dennis at St Charles Guest House saved the day for me when my original reservation with a nearby so-called guest house was denied due to a "water main break" earlier in the day. Mind you, this was 7:30 pm, and no one notified me. I learned of my status upon arriving to check in. But I digress. Dennis to the... More

St. Charles Guesthouse is deliciously quite, utterly authentic and uniquely New Orleans kind of place to stay. Dennis, Paul and others at the guesthouse are generous in sharing their knowledge about the city and their passion for its unique culture, history and people. I’ll stay there again when I go back to New Orleans.

Do not ever stay in this rat hole. The carpets were disgusting, bugs in the makeshift closet. I started to get sick here and after we left was sick for a week with some kind of bacteria infection. Me and my buddy were dreading going back to the room every night. We booked this as a cheap alternative we went... More

We chose the St. Charles Guest House because it was a good value and convenient to friends in the Garden District. We were satisfied with our room, which was large and pleasant. Our bed was a bit soft for me, but comfortable--and we appreciated the extra blanket and comforter in the armoire for cool nights. There were lights on either... More

We have wonderful guests that stay at our Guest House and we are so appreciative of their consideration. The needs of people vary so greatly and their perceptions are so enlightening that those qualities are what makes Inn Keeping a nice profession. This reviewer had a few challenges while at the Guest House and we were able to be of... More

I love love love the St. Charles Guest House. No, it's not the Holiday Inn--the paint is peeling a bit, there are (lovely) vines growing up the buildings, and there are no TVs. In other words, it is perfect. We felt so welcome and comfortable here at any hour of the day. My daughter was 6 last year when we... More

We truly appreciate and feel good when someone comes to our Guest House and responds favorably to what we have to offer. We work hard to please those that come and sincerely want guests to know that they are welcome and appreciated. The other element that appeals to our type of traveler (guest) is one called "character". This has nothing... More

We had two rooms here. One was really dusty and moldy and my allergies were out of control. The other room was cleaner yet had giant roaches in the bathroom. The building is old and in disrepair, the floors uneven and the carpet is likely 30 years old. I already mentioned the mold, but it's worth mentioning again as the... More

Our stay at the St. Charles Guest House couldn't have been more perfect. We were impressed with the location, staff, and overall character of the hotel. If we come back to NOLA, we'll come back to the St. Charles Guest House.

Seeking reasonably priced clean lodgings in a safe part of town, I checked into this retro gem, where I felt grounded and comfortable instantly. The place imparts rare charm and character that is precious. It has an old boardwalk type courtyard, a pool, and a pretty canvas covered porch, where it's easy to while away hours (decent wifi). The staff... More

For a very authentic yet affordable NOLA experience we'd absolutely recommend staying at the St. Charles Guest House. We stayed at this lovely inn for 6 days in July and had a comfortable and relaxing stay. When we could drag ourselves away from the beautiful outdoor pool, we found the inn conveniently located within walking distance of hip neighborhood restaurants,... More
