My husband & I recently stayed at the Samuel Sewell Inn for several nights when I needed to go to Boston for medical consultations, and will likely be back each year. The staff was wonderfully accommodating (thank you Julia, Irma, Dan, & Renee), breakfasts were homemade & satisfying, and the room was comfortable. Julia's recommendation of her favorite restaurant, Lineage,... More

I was in Boston for my first solo trip on business, but stayed an extra 2 days for fun... This was my first experience at a B&B and would stay at the Samuel Sewell Inn again in a heart beat.. The Inn keepers where very friendly and helpful. The rooms where just what I was looking for; home away from... More

I've stayed at both the Samuel Sewall and Betram Inns on numerous occasions while visiting Boston. Not once have I been disappointed! I LOVE the quaint antique decor and delicious hot breakfasts that are served every morning. In the winter there's even a fireplace to keep you toasty and warm. The staff are amazing, so friendly, and now know me... More

We have just returned home to England having spent 6 nights at this Inn. We had a very warm greeting on our arrival late in the night. The lady gave us loads of useful information to help us settle in.We were given free passes to Museums. Room 7 is perfect for a relaxing break. The breakfast at this Inn and... More

While searching for someplace to stay the night before my husband's early-morning appointment at Dana Farber, I discovered this gem. From the moment that we stepped inside from the driving, icy rain, I felt at home. A table of snacks greeted us, incuding a glass cake stand layered with chocolate cookies. The young man that checked us in was friendly and... More

This inn exceeded our expectations by far! The room included chocolate covered strawberries, an awesome breakfast which included apple, cheddar bread pudding (who knew bread pudding could be so delicious?), homemade fruit salad, hard boiled eggs, homemade parmesan scones, homemade apple yogurt bread, crescents, dry cereal and more. When you arrive, there are homemade cookies, chocolate covered almonds, and other... More

I have not yet stayed at the inn, but I can say I had a similar booking experience as Amy R. -- almost exactly, with a room available before I had my voucher number, but then gone when I called back the next day (though I was never told they would hold it for me). But I found the staff... More

The Samuel Sewall Inn is housed in a beautiful, old building that is immaculate, well-kept, and tastefully decorated. We stayed in room #2, which is spacious and has a charming working wood fireplace and a super comfortable bed. The bathroom, however, is a little tight, with virtually no place to put your toiletries. A shelf would help... Having a parking... More

Disclaimer: I did not actually stay here. But based on their amazing phone service, I would absolutely choose this B&B next time if possible!! I couldn't make my reservation due to emergency-condition weather (Hurricane Sandy), and the manager issued me a full refund without hesitation. On top of this, my wallet had recently been stolen (not my luckiest trip...), and... More

I'm posting the same review for bothThe Bertram Inn and The Samual Sewall Inn since they are managed by the same people, share staff and kitchens, and are across the street from each other. These very nice B&B's are located in Brookline, just outside of Boston. We’ve stayed at each several times over the past two years since our daughter... More
