Comfy Cozy place to stay and the owners are awesome!! Very knowledgeable on the History of Fort Scott. He gave us recommendations on where to eat..they were all wonderful! I stayed in this hotel on whim for one night while I was visiting near-by Nevada. I don't like big hotels or really modern hotels and don't like to feel like I'm traveling. Had a great two-night stay at the Courtland. Frank was very friendly and engaging, extremely knowledgeable about the history of his building. Gave us Room 1, which was larger than I'd expected, with a very comfortable King Bed, and beautifully furnished. Will definitely be returning!

Our second stay. Frank has an energetic and positive welcome. There are limitations -- no elevator to second floor rooms. A wonderful wide winding creaky wooden staircase instead. Renovated historic property offers something different than the usual B&B. The family running the property is nice, and the rooms are ok size, but beds feel old, bedspreads look and feel cheap, bathrooms are minimal. Shower stall is small and precarious. Lovely historic hotel. Very friendly innkeeper that is eager to help. Room was clean and comfy. Good breakfast variety.
