This is the first hotel I've chosen based on reviews on Tripadvisor alone. And I am not sorry. We stayed for one night last weekend to be near the Meatpacking district. This place exceeded our expectations in every way - value for the money, neatness and cleanliness of the room, overall atmosphere, and friendliness of the service. There is a... More

I'll mainly address the few complaints I've seen in a few reviews: - small rooms. Welcome to Manhattan, friend! I can tell you haven't been here before from your foreign beliefs on room size. This is actually average to above-average for a hotel room here, and because the room is well laid out, it takes good advantage of that. There's... More

Hey Jim, Thanks for your inclusive point by point breakdown. I think you've definitely captured a few of the common gripes and I couldn't have said it better. And you are quite right; everything, from the dark halls to the fabric on the couches in the lobby, was an intentional design choice by the owners, Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode.... More

A quite lobby in the midst of Manhatten and friendly staff that heats up your milk bottles and helps you with your stroller. More

The Maritime Hotel is located in the Chelsea/Meatpacking area of Lower Manhattan. It was once the headquarters of the Maritime Institute, where sailors could stay while in port in NY. After falling on harder times, it was purchased by a Japanese firm several years ago, and they renovated it and took back the original Maritime name. It’s well located near... More

this is my favorite hotel in the world, i've stayed here over a dozen times--perfect design, great service, not overdone nor too much pampering, this is a hotel for serious travelers. great for art world professionals. the rooms are a bit small, but this is NYC so larger would be more expensive. the price is right---though january is about half... The hotel is very well located within Chelsea and is just next to the Art Deco styled Port Authority Commerce Building. The subway station is just one block away. The rooms are very nice although the rooms/beds are a bit on the small side when occupied with two guests. The upper floors have a nice view out to the Hudson... More

Could not beat the price and location. 1st time staying at this hotel, very clean room and bathroom. Only issue was that it took several minutes to get the hot water running in the shower, but after that all was good. Could not have been more satisfied. Will return in the future. More

Hey Mario, Thanks for the comments regarding your trip. Sorry the hot water took longer than expected. Sometimes it can take a few minutes if you happen to be showering during an off hour when others in the hotel are not. We hope to see you again soon! James Palmer General Manager More

Loveed this hotel!! After being out in the crazy city, this hotel has a peaceful calm pace and hip feel! The front desk staff was informal and welcoming and rooms felt like you were on a cruise. Just loved the big round windows and how soundproof they were too! Exercise room was like a dungeon but that's why Central Park... More

Hi JudyMakaryk Glad you liked our relaxed vibe! NYC has enough energy on it's own, so we like to offer a calm place to return after a long day hitting the pavement. Next time, be sure to take a jog down the West Side Highway park as well. It's a favorite of the locals. Cheers, James Palmer General Manager More

This is a great spot in the Meatpacking/Chelsea area for anyone that wants a step up from the McWyndamSuites, but without the soul-crushing irony-laden attitude of a place like The Ace. The rooms are a bit small, but it's close to everything and the staff there was awesome. More

This is my second time staying at The Maritime Hotel and there is no better combination of customer service, superior design and hospitality in Manhattan. The building was designed by the noted mid century modern architect Albert Ledner and the rooms are small but extremely well appointed. The beds are very comfortable. The staff was unobtrusive yet helpful. Uber-hip hotels... More

Hi Undrgdtrvlr What can we say other than WOW! Thanks for such a great write up about your trips to the Maritime. Classically hip, I like that :) When we finished renovating the property into the hotel back in 2003, Albert came up for a visit. He said he almost couldn't tell what was new and what had always been... More
