When we first stayed in New York, we stayed in a hostel on the upper west side so this was a massive step up. The location was great and we spent a lot of time wandering up and down the easy to navigate streets. Half a block down is a Big Daddy's diner which was great for breakfast (though a... More

Previous stays in other hotels have always been noisy given the city but this room was silent! Spent most of my time in lower manhattan (soho and chelsea predominantly) and walked everywhere. The room was very clean, it was well priced (expedia) and the staff was very accommodating and lovely about a room change request. Anyone not liking scents would... More

This was our second time at the W. Our room was sophisticated looking and quiet, considering how close the building is to Union Square. The weekend rate was reasonable for the area. The room was extremely clean however, the perfumed scent in our guestroom was stomach-turningly strong. When I discussed it with the front desk, the person immediately said "It's... More

I think The W chain of hotels has become lazy. I recently stayed at The W at Union Square and was somewhat disappointed for the price (almost $400/nt). I'm in NYC often and have stayed at numerous hotels including The Setai (amazing) and The Hudson (also very average) when not staying with friends. First, a hotel that still charges for... More

We stayed here the night of our wedding. Very comfortable bed, and romantic decor. We still stop at lounge for drinks every once in a while. Nice size bathroom and very clean. More

I just stayed 10 nights at the W Union Square and u can't beat it for location. The restaurants nearby are fantastic and open till late and the proximity to convenience stores and shops are just a stone's throw away. BUT and there are a few BUTS, the service standard of the rooms are quite questionable. I asked for my... More

I just stayed in the W Union Square, for my semi-annual trip to help my NYU child move into residence. This hotel has become our home away from home, not only because of its proximity to the NYU and wonderful SOHO area of New York. We had arranged for a "mega" room because of all the luggage we had, and... More

From the perspective of someone that used to live in NY, the location is fabulous. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. The bed was super comfortable. To be picky, they could use new carpeting and new bathtubs to take it up a knotch. But I was very happy with the room overall. My only real... More
