Leo House is a quiet, safe and comfortable place to stay; It's in a convenient location, quiet.and affordable. I would definitely go there again. The people were very nice; I liked the security of having them check my name against my room key until they came to know me. The rooms are upscale but perfectly adequate. We shared a shower and... We've stayed at the Leo House a number of times and you go for the price and the location, not for the swank interior decor. I think the rooms are feeling especially tired (chipped paint, old tub, not enough storage, black stuff in shower) but frankly, I'm thrilled there is a place that won't bankrupt you. The breakfast is a... More

The Leo House was a perfect place for us. I am Canadian, I was meeting up with my 4 friends who had flown in from Australia earlier in the day. We considered the hostels in NYC but price wise this was better value for less money for 5 of us. The location was great in the middle of everywhere, good... More

This is the worst hotel ever. It's only a few dollars less than others so stay away at all costs! The staff are all strange and no zero about customer service. They are rude, nosy, peculiar. You have to leave your key in a box when you walk outside even for a moment: it's like a prison! The rooms are... More

I found The Leo House on the TripAdvisor website and was mostly pleased with my stay. I stayed in NYC for 5 days with a friend in a double room w/ private bath. I was drawn to this establishment by its amazing prices (I also benefited from the $10 discount/night for the month in which I stayed) and its location.... More

Leo House is perfectly-located for those of you wanting to explore Manhattan. The arty Chelsea district starts a block away. An entrance to the High Line is right down the street. The A, C and E trains stop nearby for travel uptown (to the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, JFK airport, etc.) and downtown (The Village, Tribeca, WTC,... More

This small and inexpensive hotel in the heart of Chelsea is a treasure. It is safe, clean and for the most part, quiet. The staff is helpful and kind. Security is flawless. You must be buzzed into the hotel and are questioned if the staff does not recognnize you. This is indeed a hotel for single women. In fact it... More

Please do not go to Leo House if you expect a first rate hotel experience. What makes it a wonderful NYC experience is the excellent location, the great price and a simple room. I've been going there for years. I've never had mold as one reviewer wrote. It's a bit like your grandmother's house. But I lived near New York... More

New York was very interesting but if you get frustrated with crowds don't go during a holiday. It was wall to wall people in Macy's department store and in Eataly, tv chef Mario Batali and Lidia Bastaniach's giant cafeteria Deli on 223rd and 5th Ave. Lots of good Italian foods. I stayed at Leo House Convent because the hotels were... More

Stayed on the recommendation of a friend who is a religious sister. Do not expect your conventional hotel. It has a 'catholic' ethos. There is a chapel and quiet room on the first floor, and a pleasant garden: all for reflection, study and a peaceful ambiance. Mass is available on occasions when a priest is available. During our stay the... More
