With royal bedding draped over the four-poster beds, plush carpeting, soft seating, accent furnishings, and beautiful artwork we aspire to provide only the best for our guests! Our bathrooms are just as unique as our guest rooms! Magenta marbled wash basins, brass faucets, extra large mirrors, antique decorative lighting, textured wall coverings, and of course claw-foot tubs with full-length goose neck showers to preserve the glamour of the Majestic. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is a wonderful Victorian hotel in the centre of San Francisco. A green that sadly isn’t breeding cared for well enough. Our room was a suite which was magnificent. The bed rather too high off the ground and the room bay hot unless you ran the extremely noisy air con into. So don’t stay in the summer. A nice touch is the all day coffee station. They provide a continental breakfast but this is appalling. There is little or no choice and when I asked for gluten free bread the foreign worker did not understand me at all. So my choices were severely limited. No cereal no bread and only an over cooked cold boiled egg and yoghurt. The scrambled egg was so revolting you could have cut it with a knife. So for me the bravest was a disaster and as we stayed four nights you think the staff could have found a loaf for me. I can’t be the only person in San Francisco who is gluten free. This green of a hotel is poorly run and needs renovation and better management to reach its full potential.

An historic hotel so don’t expect modern like a chain hotel. Several steep steps at entrance not easy with heavy luggage. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel, away from street noise. Didn’t hear any other guests although the hotel was busy. Noise from above as people moved around in their room but expected for the age of the place. Self serve hot drinks available 24hr, Water fountain in dining room. Water in fridge in room. Safe in room. Bathroom spacious, old style shower over bath, not easy to get in and out of, but good shower and plenty of hot water. Very clean. Breakfast continental included, adequate selection. Small bar for evening drinks, friendly and relaxing after a day sight seeing. 5 min walk from Japan Centre, 5 mins walk to Munni buses and cablecars to get around.

A wonderful hotel that makes you feel like you're in the 1920s, our room was very comfortable, breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice for a continental, hotel is in a good location, staff were very helpful and friendly. Make sure you make use of the happy hour in the bar, we saved a small fortune.

I booked a Deluxe King Suite for 3 and the size was perfect. Just outside of the bedroom is a sitting room with a sofa bed, where my teenager slept. Between the bedroom and sitting room, there are no doors so keeping am eye on the kids would be a breeze. The hotel was built in the early 1900s without A/C, but the hotel staff made an effort in ensuring guests were comfortable by providing a portable A/C and multiple fans in the closet. Not to mention a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The king bed, although very comfortable, was incredibly tall and took some parkour for this 5'5“ frame to get on. Well, a clumsy rendition of parkour, if you will. However, the comfort of the bed made the effort well worth it. Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast with warm hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, toast, etc. as well as waffle irons should you want to make your own waffles. Parking was not available, so we opted against renting a car and paying parking fees at a nearby garage. There is a fridge but no microwave, so lunch and dinner can be pricey when ordering in. Even with that mild inconvenience everything about the hotel was completely comfortable. The first night we heard footsteps above us until 2 am. We figured we had neighbors who might have been international travelers or late night owls. At that time, we had no idea that we were assigned to the room directly below the room suspected to be haunted. Normally I wouldn't believe the stories and would try to debunk any suspicion with rational explanations. However, the second night changed my mind. That night as we had settled into bed, the light above the bed turned on by itself. The remote control to the light was attached to wall across the room. None of us were anywhere near it. Needless to say I was ready to sleep with one eye open that night. However, that frightening encounter wasn't enough to keep us from getting a good night's sleep. Once the shock wore off, nothing else happened and we slept peacefully.

This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. Quirky, delightful and reasonably central. We stayed for three nights and returned after a trip around California for one night. The staff have been professional, friendly and super helpful. If you want something different from the usual corporate hotels this is for you .

I thoroughly enjoyed my three nights at this hotel. The furnishings and atmosphere are reminiscent of European hotels I’ve enjoyed. Our room was spacious and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was served in a lovely dining area. The lobby was charming and always had coffee and tea available. But the absolute best aspect of my visit was the friendly and helpful hotel staff, especially a young man named Manoj who manned the front desk. He went above and beyond to alert me that I’d dropped my watch in the hallway and kept it safe. And later, when I was afraid I’d lost something of value and called and asked him to check if I’d left it in the room, he made a special trip to my room and assured me it was still there.

When I entered my room I felt I stepped back in time to the 1800's. Decor is very Victorian cozy. Bathroom has modern plumbing but it did have a clawfoot bathtub which kept the feel of time. The hotel I believe was one family's home in the early 1900's which turned into a hotel. I chose this hotel because it was couple blocks away from a class I took at the Japanese Cultural Center of Northern California. After class I explored Japantown which was a treat. Hotel Majestic is centrally located in heart of Japantown which is easy to travel by using public transportation. I didn't want to rent a car since I only went for 1 day and I knew parking would be hard in the city. I was pleasantly surprised they offer complimentary full breakfast which I was unaware. If my travels take me to San Francisco again I would stay at Hotel Majestic for its location, amenities, friendly personnel service and reasonable rates.

Stayed here on 12/31/22 NYE. We were welcomed by the kindest gal at the front desk. She was both engaging and friendly. Our room was comfortable, cozy & clean. The most noteworthy moment was when I received an email from the hotel that I left a bag in my room. I hadn’t even realized it. They held it for me overnight. All was accounted for in my bag. The fellow that I followed up communication with was just as friendly! The location was a safe and easy walk to The Fillmore. Thank you!

This beautiful hotel is ideal for those looking to explore San Francisco. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and staff are friendly and informative. I particularly loved the claw foot bath in our bathroom, the beds are very high but so comfy and rooms are quiet and air conditioned. Even though the restaurant was not open during our stay, the hotel put on a delicious continental breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, pastries and toast and bagels. The hotel is ideally located with transport available nearby and many restaurants and bars available on nearby poke Street.
