Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Apart from being forced to pay $30 a day ‘Destination Fee’ is nothing least that extortion. Basically being made to stay in the hotel and use the Bar/Restaurant to redeem the fee. I have never experienced that in my entire travelling life and would not recommend this hotel to anybody. It was not made apparent at my time of booking that this was going to be charged or I would never have stayed there. This in my honest opinion is a deliberate act to deceive potential customers. I only found this out on arrival after 18 hours travelling and to then cancel and find another hotel at that stage would have been more hassle. Staff in the restaurant were rude and lazy!

Dear Adamski1957, We thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Our team is saddened that you were unaware of the booking details of your reservation. When one searches San Francisco Hotels, you will find that all of the major brand hotels charge a Destination Fee. While we want guests to stay with us in the Fisherman's Wharf area, there are other Marriott branded hotels in nearby suburbs that are not a destination like San Francisco. The Destination Fee is posted on our Marriott.com web page, as well as the other major 3rd party booking sites. With the abundance of internet pages to research, guests have many options to know exactly what they are paying for. Just last year, my wife and I traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii. My wife searched all the hotels, options, and immediately notified me that we would have to pay a Destination Fee no matter which hotel we chose. This information again, is available either online or calling the hotels directly. Literally, every hotel in Hawaii charges a Destination Fee. Our choice was either pay the fee, or lease an AirBnB. We chose the Moana Hotel, paid the Destination Fee and were happy with the location that was literally on the beach. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We appreciate you and hope that you will return and stay with us again. Kindest regards, Mesui Pale Director of Operations

This is the worst hotel I've ever been in San Francisco. Rooms are small without any view. Response to complaints is very slow. The water pressure is too low. There are much better options in San Francisco available. This hotel is not worth a try.

The location is perfect and the room is nice. It can be even better if there are bathrobes, slippers and extra glasses in the room. The Redfin restaurant is ok but you may want to try others too as they are quite close. 中国游客建议去别的饭店,除非你很爱吃西餐且愿意尝试各种新口味。比如他家的烤鸡翅也会有一种很独特的酱汁,慎点。

This hotel was a huge disappointment. For the price the room was small but adequate. But the hallways were SO cold and the restaurant, which is in the lobby, was also freezing. The front door kept opening and closing which didn't help the temperature. I asked total strangers women and men, if it was just me. A group of men agreed with me that both the hotel hallways and lobby/restaurant were freezing. The location is good but I wouldn't stay there again. We supposedly had a group rate (there for a wedding) but the price didn't reflect that in my opinion. We heard great things about the hot fudge sundaes - they were delicious but $18 each!! And we are Bonvoy members but didn't get the coupon they had been giving out!

Being from San Francisco, Family decided to visit . I normally choose Union Square Area for its location. But with the negativity around the Area. Never regretted this Location. First and Foremost. It's a petite hotel with huge and very comfy room.Id say well maintained. It's a very safe place to walk. close to LOMBARD ST. (2 blocks) the Famous Fisherman's Wharf and PIER 39. Fronting the hotel is Bus 28 and 30 Both Heading to Golden Gate Bridge and Palace of fine Arts. Looking for Restaurants. Yes on chestnut St. take bus 30 . overall, I'd stay in this location as the Union Square area is not safe at night

We were highly recommended by our good friend to stay in this hotel . He stayed here when he visited from San Diego. It did not disappoint us. Counter staff miss Grace B was extremely polite and friendly, helped us to find two connecting rooms for our family of 4. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, the aircons were working well . The hotel was next to fisherman wharf and within walking distance to various tourist high lists like the fame cable car turn-around, China town etc etc. we will definitely stay in this hotel if we revisit in future

I have stayed in too many hotels across the world on business that were not memorable but this one is ……the staff were fabulous. But there was one person who was just outstanding Jennifer the Concierge nothing was too much trouble and she got us into restaurants that were not taking bookings sourcing something to take home to my Nephew she went over and above.

The overall stay was a very pleasant one. The general location of the hotel was excellent. Just a quick ~5-minute walk, and you are at the wharf. The hotel provides paid parking, which is a norm across, and you can keep the car even after checkout, depending on when you checked in. The room we stayed in was on the 5th floor, and outside the window, we did not have any great view, but have to say it was also not blocked by any buildings. The hotel had a restaurant in its lobby, and it was reasonable. However, you also have many options nearby in walking distance. We loved our stay and the hospitality from the hotel.

I was just staying here for Outside Lands and this was a great stay. The staff was super accommodating of all of my request and explained everything I had questions about. The location was great for walking and there was easy access to trolley cars if you wanted to hop on one and go around the city. The hotel restaurant/room service didn’t have many vegan options, but they were accommodating to the best of their ability. Hotel is super clean and I felt safe walking around the area at night as a female solo traveler. Would definitely stay here again if I ended up going to the festival next year.
