We had a nice appartment (it's not a hotel or hostel) equipped with everything needed. The rooms were clean. The barbecue place in front of the building was a good alternative to cooking.
You also have good driving distances to south Maui, Haleakala, Hana and western Maui - it's nearly in the middle of Maui.
