Nice location next to park and ocean, we had a nice room with ocean and mountain views it was a corner unit on a upper floor, was very quiet and slept like a baby, no hair dryer in room which I would have liked they probably had them at front desk though. Rooms are a little old fashion but clean,... More

I booked this hotel through Hotwire, and when I arrived I realized I had stayed here before, quite a few years ago. The check-in lady was very friendly, and the room on the tree side of the hotel was very nice. I slept with my balcony door open, so I didn't need the AC. The only drawback was that there... More

5 minutes from airport, 10 from shopping but what is most important less than an hour from Hawaii Volcanoes National park. Skip the food as there are better choices close by. Clean and quiet...could use an update but overall a good value. More

I'm taking this opportunity to thank the friendly staff at the Hilo Hawaiian for finding the new black silk sweater I left in our room when we checked out. I didn't realize it was missing until we were at the Kilauea Lodge, but a call to the Housekeeping manager turned up the sweater and we were able to pick it... More

We fly to the big island before Christmas and I planned 3 days on the wet-side for site seeing then moving to the Kona side. I have to say do not skip the Hilo side of the island. It is lovely, lots of waterfalls, we did the helicopter over the volcano from there, and visited the botanical gardens. That said,... More

I will start by saying we love Hilo. The hotel options are limited and this is best option as there are no newer choices. Hilo is unique in that it represents Hawaii from a previous era and has a very slow pace. Hilo is adjacent, 30 minute drive, and best option that is closest to the active volcano, Kiluea. We... More

This somewhat dated hotel has perhaps one of the best locations in Hilo, and the rooms are spacious with great ocean views and balconies. It's not much on the service side, and the food in the restaurant is, well, hotel food. Don't bother with the breakfast buffet - overpriced and lacking in quality and selection. But, if I ever stayed... More

We had two rooms and they both had a terrible musty smell. We could could easily hear everything in the hallway and from nearby rooms. The pool was extremely cold and there wasn't much to do nearby. More

I want to like this hotel and recommend it, but its hard. On the positve side, it has a beautiful location, adjacent to the bay and a wonderful garden. The surroundings are lush. The rooms need to be updated. They're not terrible, but they are dated. I had a nice balcony overlooking the bay. The dining options are weak. I... More

Let's start by saying that you don't have many options for hotels in Hilo. And, you definitely won't find the lovely resorts you find on the Kona side of the island. So, keeping that perspective, this hotel is okay. Just don't get your expectations very high. My wife and I stayed here overnight with my parents, in two separate rooms.... More
