Traveling the back roads home came upon the Cass Railroad. Interesting historical site of times gone by. Stop, get out, walk around...it's worth it! Not sure if housing is seasonal, best to check in advance if you want to stay in the village housing. Only checked "average" on ratings because of lack of knowledge. We didn't stay overnight.

We stayed in a river-front house #137. It was perfect for the setting. It had 3 bedrooms, a very small bathroom, a kitchen, dining room & living room. Two bedrooms have 2 twin beds and the other room had a double bed. The rooms were a decent size. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, fridge, stove, coffee pots,... More

We didn't expect 5-star accomodations at the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, but the cabins were pleasant and clean. These cabins were former homes of millworkers, when the paper and pulp mill was still working. They are not fancy. Ours consisted of three decently-sized rooms, a small bathroom, a kitchen, dining room and living room. I shouldn't forget the porch... More

We were so delighted to finally make it to Cass to ride on the last 11 miles of logging railroad behind the Shays & the opportunity to stay in a company house was absolutely perfect. Not only was the house comfortable & charming, we were across the street from the Greenbrier River and an apple tree heavily laden with fruit.... More

We've been coming to Cass starting in the early 1980's. It was our first time to stay in the company houses. Neat. Deer all over the place mornings and evenings. They're pretty people tolerant - you can get within 20-30 feet of them before they take off. One doe had triplets with her still in spots. We stayed July 27-29,2012.... More

We took our kids to Cass for the second time to ride the trains. This was our first time to stay in the Coal Camp houses. We stayed river-front in house #131 that linked up directly to the hiking trail. There were people fishing by the river, that access is available. The house is old and perfectly imperfect! It was... We only stayed here because the reviews of the Bear Creek Lodge were bad. But I wished we had stayed at Bear Creek! Company house # 224, has no air conditioning, no shade, no privacy, no bathroom on the first floor, no chairs in the bedroom. There was no towel rack in the tiny bathroom; it was broken. The shower... More

We stayed here for one night in June after a very enjoyable ride on the logging train. It was prior to a terrific thunderstorm, very hot and humid ( must have been in the 90's and our cottage which slept 6 did not have A.C. When we booked we were told that there were two restaurants in Cass. One that... More

Myself and two others stayed at one of the Cass Company Houses the weekend of May 5/6. Compared to other 'mom & pop' motel-type lodgings in the general area we were favorably impressed. The renovations were done well. There was plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. The house had a warm, 'homey' feel about it. The kitchen... More

How funny someone writes to complain about the lack of night life! Don't come to Cass, WV for nightlife! This place is peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The houses here for rent are all former lumber company houses. They are very inexpensive and quite large: about 2500 sq/ft, with three bedrooms upstairs, a big living room and dining room and separate... More
