In town for a family member having surgery at Children's Hospital. The room was spacious with a full kitchen. Beds were comfortable, room clean. Great breakfast with good assortment and they offered free dinners on some nights. Nice work out room with an indoor heated pool and spa. Very nice staff. The hospital was a fifteen minute walk and right... More

We are happy we were able to make your stay an enjoyable one. The Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughter's is an amazing hospital. We do hope your family member has a speedy recovery from the surgery. You are correct we have several modes of transportation for the downtown area if you wish to leave your car parked or if... More

I love this hotel. The rooms are large and very clean. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels that don't even come close to this place. The breakfast menu is very good and has a lot of options and the fitness center is nice as well. You can't beat the location either. It's within walking distance of the mall and... More

Mike, We are happy you enjoyed your time here at the Residence Inn Downtown. Unfortunately, parking is one of the evils for a downtown location. Hopefully while you were here you had an opportunity to leave your car parked and ride our new light rail system to your destination. If your travel brings you back to the Norfolk area we... More

I have stayed here 4 times since and is my Hotel of prefernce in the Downtown norfolk Area. The 1st 2 times were questionable about coming back. The service was not of Marriott quality and the cleanliness was not of Marriott quality. The free breakfast was not a benefit either. This was during the first couple of months of being... More

I actually love this hotel; as a federal government worker I have stayed here twice for extended periods for training classes at the naval base, the last time in April. I am not giving a bad review for the hotel itself, but a policy change at the hotel that now prevents me from staying there. For all federal employees, the... More

Joshua, We are sorry for the confusion but we do offer the government per diem rate for anyone traveling on official business with the proper identification. We also offer a government discount rate for other government travel. We do limit how many rooms we can take at the government per diem rate as well as other discount programs. So the... More

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Downtown Norfolk, VA for 2 nights while traveling on a road trip vacation. Oh my gosh -- what a nice surprise this hotel was. Our room is a king bed studio -- very comfortable and spacious. It has a kitchenette with dishwasher, sink, microwave, refrigerator, eating/cooking utensils. There is a small dining table... More

The Whirlpool broken was broken. The email response I received stated it had broken the same day I called for a reservation but after I had called. The guy at the desk said it had been broken for "awhile". The complimentary food was either burnt, stale or undercooked. When I choose to stay at a Residence Inn I factor the... More

We are sorry we did not meet your expectations during your stay. We did have complications with our jacuzzi due to hurricane Irene. We also have additional dressings upon request for salads. Unfortunately our staff did not make you aware of this. We do hope you will again try us in the future. Sincerely, Linda Markert, CHA More

I stayed here for a wedding 8/25 - 8/29, 2011, during hurricane Irene. The hotel managers and staff left no stone unturned in caring for their guests. Additional staff came in and stayed overnight. All the restaurants in downtow Norfolk were closed, so the hotel provided supper for everyone, at no cost to the guests. The staff were courteous, cheerful... More

Thank you for taking the time to send us your kind comments. We did try to make a difficult situation into at least a comfortable weekend. We are so happy the bride and groom were still able to continue with their wedding plans during the hurricane. This will certainly give them something unique to remember about their special day. We were recently in town for a wedding during Hurricane Irene. The building is very safe and is not in "low lying areas." Nearby there was some flooding but there were no issues at the hotel. We were basically stuck in the hotel for about 24 hours. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. The rooms are extremely nice with... More

This is a newly-built (2009) Residence Inn in Downtown Norfolk and near Ghent. I live locally and chose to stay here with my two young children during Hurricane Irene in August 2011. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I felt that multiple staff members went the extra mile for all the guests during a challenging time, including providing an extra... More

Thank you for your feedback about your stay at the Residence Inn Downtown. The hotel staff has addressed these problems by adding a daily inspection team.
