I've stayed at this palace twice this winter with a third trip coming up. It is the most convenient and reasonable accomodationg if you're skiing at Jay. The owners are delightful and very accomodating.

This place is awesome. My girlfriend (25) and I (27) went up to Jay Peak to snowboard for the weekend, and upon researching bed and breakfasts in the area, we settled on this place. Booking the place was a breeze. We got there at 3am and the key was there waiting for us. The room (York & Lancaster Suite) was... More

Stayed there with my 13 year-old son recently for a ski weekend, had a great time. Owners are friendly and attentive - we left some stuff behind on our last day and they called me on my cell phone before I had even noticed it was gone. Small dogs are cute (note the owners will keep them away if you... More

My wife and I planned a Vermont skiing trip from NYC at the last minute. Decided on the Jay Peak area literally a day before we were visiting. Most of the highly rated B&Bs were sold out, so we picked this place. I admit that we had some reservations about our choice because of the mixed reviews. But our experience... More

We had a great stay. Mary Jane and Gary cooked up a fine breakfast for all. The ambience is quirky but fun. The home is circa 1825 and with all the collectibles it's full of charm. A great atmosphere to relax, meet new friends and just chill after a hard day's ski.

Every winter we ski with friends and look for moderate budget friendly places for families to stay that is close to the ski area. I personally like more modern places with less clutter but felt very relaxed and warmed in the English Rose Inn. Their food is wonderful, Mary Jane, her husband and sister, were most welcoming and their little... More

We've stayed at many B&Bs in Vermont and overall, our visit was a bit of a mixed bag. PROS: - Mary Jane and Gary were kind and helpful. - WIFI connection in our room was pretty good. We had no problems connecting and the signal was strong. - Rooms were small but cozy and our bed was quite comfortable. I... More

I for one loved the english christmas decor the owners put together, very original and charming! Wifi, TV, and common space hits for me. Great breakfasts and ate dinner one evening and I recommend having a dinner. Found the innkeepers Mary Jane and Gary very helpful, friendly and willing to bend to help you out. Rooms were a good value.... More

I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts in Vermont but never one so cluttered with Nick nacks. The owner was more concerned about her 3 little dogs then she was about the tenants. Rooms are very outdated beds must have been 40 to 50 years old. I was more concerned with the cleanliness of the place. The carpet in... More

The rooms are not outdated. It has a new queen and twin mattress purchased 2 years ago. The headboards are Antique Jenny Linds, antique dresser and antique singer table used for a night stand. The bathroom was completely remodeled 2011. The photos of the room on my website shows how beautiful it is. When this family arrived they were all... More

If you don't mind a few yappy dogs running around or over the top chintz it is close to the ski hill. Am always leery of reviews with "excellent" ratings. This place is average at best. Friendly but would not say overwhelmingly as some others wrote. Could use a few less tea cups.

Yes, this guest just left. We are very busy because of the holidays and still have decorations for Xmas out. Many guest have commented on how beautiful it is. We have a Victorian style Inn, and it is highly advertised as Victorian,it sounds like this wasn't her style of decoration. We felt we were very attentive to them while they... More
