Thanks to the hosts for a perfect location to all the fun in the Grand Staircase region. We had such a good time in the area that we want to go back soon. We enjoyed lazy mornings and sitting out on the patio in the evening with the Milky Way above us - the night sky is amazing. We certainly... More

Great access to hikes in the Grand Staircase region. Our hosts were knowledgeable about the roads, hikes, flora and fauna of the area. One mile walk or ride into town with a couple of fun restaurants and a couple of full service outfitters. The house is luxurious, with a glamerous new kitchen design, comfortables beds and a beautiful view from... More

This was my first time staying at La Luz and the second for my wife and sister-in-law. I love the architecture which utilizes passive solar heating/cooling techniques with an open kitchen/living/dining floor plan. One of our favorite activities at the house was sitting on the patio at night after a day of adventure and looking at all the stars. This... More

This is to be the cream of the crop in the dessert for rentals. Fine architecture and the most well stocked kitchen I have ever come across (apart from my own!!). Try to arrive in the daylight as it can be tricky to find, but once found you will be delighted. Enjoy the isolation and the feeling of being in... More

We expected a decent house to use for a base for touring all the national parks/monuments in Utah. What we got was absolutely incredible - beautiful open spaces, architectural detailing, comfortable furniture, amazingly upscale appliances. It was also very clean and well-maintained. And exceptionally quiet, just at the edge of town. The owners were on vacation when we arrived but... More

My husband, brother, sister-in-law and I stayed six glorious days at La Luz and loved every moment ... especially the glorious sunrises. Ricki and Sandy, the owners, are next door but don't intrude. I urge you, however, to take the initiative and talk with Ricki. He's a photographer and (when asked) will give you wonderful advice on places to go.... More

My wife and I stayed at the La Luz Desert Retreat in July 2008 and have referenced it ever since. Normally when I post a review of a hotel I try to list the good and the bad, but our experience at La Luz didn't leave us with much to be critical about. To begin with, La Luz isn't a... More
