Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Small but very friendly. The room we were in was a good size with a big bathroom including a bath and power shower. All staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast - we had the fry up - everything cooked fresh with a constant supply of tea and coffee.... More

A friendly warm welcome from the staff at the Aberthaw. The room as usual, was of a high standard. The breakfast was perfect. Nothing is too much trouble for those lovely Welsh gals.Mrs Floggerty was on top form .The place wouldn't be the same without her fantastic french accent. can't wait to return.

Arrived, welcomed by Thelma. Assisted with bags, cup of coffee, may I add a decent coffee freshly made. Dog settled in and welcomed! Throughout the stay nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless, the beds were very comfortable, loads of pillows. Good quality pictures on tv. Information given for areas visiting during stay. Well the breakfast lived up... More

we are friends who travelled down to Barry for the weekend as a base to watch the rugby in Cardiff. We were met on arrival by friendly staff, helped with luggage, lovely room, spotlessly clean with all the facilities you could need. Breakfast was out of this world especially as we were slightly awkward in our requests, our every need... More

I have stayed there a few times and it cannot be faulted - except the bar 'aint open on Friday nights (AWWW). Wonderful staff, nice clean rooms and an excellent breakfast, what more could you want (except the bar on a Friday :) We stay when coming down from Sunderland to the Millennium Stadium for the rugby (Wales forever). We are avid walkers and were looking for a base from which to explore the Barry/Cardiff area - and we chanced on the ideal place to stay. Aberthaw House is within a 5min walk of bus stops and rail station for Cardiff and the surrounding area, and also for a good range of shops (if you are that way inclined!!)... More

We have just returned from a weekend staying at the Aberthaw for my husbands birthday. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from Barry railway station and we received a warm and friendly welcome. Our room was spotless, tastefully decorated with a spacious bathroom, flat screen tv and comfortable bed. The bar was open and is a lovely place... More

I was just looking for a nice place to stay before flying out of Cardiff airport and this was much more than I expected. Friendly, wonderful welcome when we arrived! While located on a very (VERY) steep hill, it is just a short walk down to town and the rail station (so handy). Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Ended up... More
