Just had four great nights at the Tyn-y-Coed over the Easter break; this was our base for walking and bird watching. Walking can be from the front door (for Moel Siabod) or with a ten minute drive away into the Ogwen valley or maybe 20 minutes to the Snowdon range. Conway RSPB is about 30-40 minutes away and RSPB south... More

We have stayed at the Tyn-y-Coed several times stretching back more than 20 years, and for all that time the hotel has been in the same hands. Our first stay, in December 1990, was during one of the worst snow storms Capel has seen in 30 years, which resulted in the vilage losing electricity for several days. The owners offered... More

I have stayed here several times now over the last 10 years and each time I stay I enjoy it as much as the last. The location of the hotel for all outdoor activities is fantastic and you're just 10 minutes drive away from Tryfan, The Glyders and Cwym Idwell. George and his wife do a great job of running... We stayed one night in the 5 bed bunkroom of the hotel, and then came back for the next 3 nights for the food and atmosphere in the bar - meeting many of the locals, and even scoring some free chocolate cake at the same time!

There is a unique atmosphere to this Hotel which is aided so much by the family feeling fostered among the staff. The location is excellent and easy to reach with plenty of parking and plenty of knowledge about the local area. The meals are also of a high standard and I can still taste the sausage and mash meal I... More

The perfect way to spend an evening after a hard day on the hills. Lovely open fires to warm you up and very a friendly, attentive service with excellent food. Rooms very comfortable and clean with yummy waffles to eat with the tea and coffee supplied in the rooms.

With accomodation and service as good as any hotel and a bar as good as any pub, this is one of the best places I have ever stayed in during my many trips to Wales, Scotland and the Lake District. Spotlessly clean rooms with no shortage of hot water and a bar with a roaring log fire and excellent ale... More
