We chose this restaurant to celebrate our mum's birthday. Our party of ten was staying nearby, so our choice was largely influenced a glance over the menu and the handy location. What a delightful surprise. Great food (best steak and chips I've tasted), lovely atmosphere and delightful service. Thank you to all.

Oban in Argyll is a natural stopping off point. It's the end of the road west and the point of embarkation for the inner and outer isles of Scotland. Consequently it is often full. We often travel from Oban to Aberdeen, and so we always pass this hotel. This time, Oban being full, we decided to stay in Taynuilt. It's... More

Having recently stayed at the beautiful Cuil Na Sithe, on Loch Awe, for my Mother's 70th Birthday celebrations, we decided to try and find a place for all 10 to have a nice meal out. As the choice in this area is a little limited, we popped in The Taynuilt Hotel, to see what was on offer, despite it not... More

Having read the reviews on here before my wife and I set off on our day trip we were confident that this was going to be a successful journey unfortunately our hopes were shattered! Arrived in the "public" bar to find an empty bar with no music,tv or any form of life to be honest! It was all rather awkward!... More

I am very sorry you were not happy with your trip to Taynuilt hotel, Had you expressed your disappointment at the time I would have been more than happy to correct you meal although I have never sent a meal 'flung out on a cold plate' therefor I am puzzled by your experience. We had been recommended and on entering had a choice of sitting in the restaurant or bar area. We had very friendly greetings on entry and were made to feel very welcome. A good sign. Our starters were nicely presented and very tasty and the main food choices are a wee bit limited and more of the burger variety. I... More

My wife and I stopped in last minute on our way to Oban, the food was perfectly prepared and presented. The staff were very pleasant and the traditional highland hospitality that One expects from a rural highland establishment was delivered 100%. We will be passing through Taynuilt again in the next few weeks and intend to stop in again, however,... More

My husband, our young son and I stopped here on the way to Oban in April. We had seen the very positive recent reviews on Tripadvisor and thought we'd give the food a try. The menu was simple and classic, focused on locally sourced produce. What sets this place apart is the quality of the food and the fact that... More

I stayed here last year when the place was being (badly) ran by the administrators, I said at the time it needed dynamic new owners with a passion for delivery of food and service and I was delighted at the weekend to see this now taking place - the hotel is now owned by a chef who in addition to... Had a meal with friends, having been advised the new owners had made a substantial improvement to the menu. The service was somewhat lacklustre and slow but the menu was unimaginative - especially for one of the party who is vegetarian. The bar area had been renovated but was cold in appearance and temperature - both of which could have... More
