I got quite a large room which was nicely furnished and a great breakfast, its an ideal spot to drive from, to see Oban and catch the ferry to the islands. The owner was very pleasant and I would definitely come back, only a short stroll to the loch too.

I stayed at the Lochgair on two occasions in December 2012 and January 2013 when I was working in Lochgilphead about 6 miles away. I ate most nights in the bar and the menu choice was very good - I would particularly recommend the steak!! Breakfast was excellent! Initially a "help yourself" buffet with everything one could possibly wish for... More

We stayed at this hotel on our Lands End to John O'Groat bike ride. The staff were very friendly and helpful providing us with inside storage for our bikes. Room was clean and warm but dated along with the rest of the hotels decor but it is very good value compared to other places we stayed. Breakfast was good especially... More

We stayed here overnight in September when the weather was becoming cooler and were very cosy in our room. We arrived fairly late in the day and were shown to our room quickly by helpful staff. Our room was very clean and and bathroom was well equipped with plenty of hot water. Enjoyed a nice meal and drink which we... More

We chose this hotel because it is very close to friends we were visiting on our way further north. We had some misgivings in view of earlier reviews but chose it because of its location. We were in fact pleasantly surprised. The owner was pleasant and helpful when we booked, offering to provide a meal for us on arrival despite... More

I have nothing particularly good to say and nothing that bad to say either although I did not think it was worth what we paid. breakfast and dinner were fine, staff were friendly and the room itself was nice. however it's on a main road with no double glazing to keep out sound and the walls are so thin we... I chose to stay here when I was working in Lochgilphead, despite some of the negative reviews on this site. The owners were perfectly pleasant and friendly. Can't fault them at all. I agree with others' comments regarding decor and the place being a work in progress. It's hardly luxury, and is a bit dated. It is also clean and... More

Myself and my work mate enjoyed our stay at this hotel last week and found "Basil" (peter) to be the perfect host. As we are frequent travellers in this area of scotland we have tried many hotels and this hotel is one of the best for value for money. We will most definately be booking this for future stays.

This was the second stop on our holiday of Scotland. From the outside, the hotel looks in need of decoration. Inside, it was dated although our room was clean and comfortable. The evening meal was served in what was also the bar. On enetering the hotel, I notcied what looked like a function room and I wonder whether this is... More

There are some starkly contrasting reviews here so thought it might be useful to add a recent one. Obviously the hotel is a work in progress with the current owners making up over time for some years of neglect. That said it's perfectly clean and comfortable. The breakfast room being an obvious example of the tasteful & contemporary look they... More
