Excellent hotel, staff, food and owners! Close to Churchhill Barriers and the lovely Italian chapel. 5 minute drive from the Pentland ferry. Lovely clean modern room. A credit to Orkney and great base to see the island.

Delightful, friendly staff, exceptionally clean rooms, good food - perfect. From the minute we arrived we were impressed. Nothing was too much trouble. Very helpful and efficient. Nice family 'suite'. Breakfast and dinner - first class. I'd love to go back again - maybe even for a longer stay.

The Sands Hotel has provided me with everything i have needed this trip to Orkney, John & Evelyn are amazing hosts. i came in late at night looking for a room for the night and ended up staying almost a week! Couldnt recommend it more

Despite quite a large scale they managed to provide personal attention. A varied menu but the chef obviously enjoys cooking the local seafood which is certainly worth a try. Reasonably priced and good service.
