I stayed at Glencloy last April for two nights with my husband and three year old son. We were greeted by Neil and instantly felt relaxed and welcome. We loved the surroundings and did not have any problems walking up the dirt road, even with a young child. in fact it added to the beauty of the place and my... More

Stayed at Glencloy for 2 nights on a recent 3 week trip to Scotland. I have to say I did arrive with some apprehension after reading some of the recent TA reviews. However we received a lovely welcome from Ashleigh, the room was clean, warm and reasonably comfortable (pillows could do with updating as they are either quite hard or... More

The Glencloy Farm B & B was misrepresentative in their e-mails with us. We would not have an auto which they knew. It was a long distance from the busline and atleast a mile down a gravel road with ruts. We came with our golfclubs plus luggage and fortunately a kind lady saw our plight and picked us up. The... It is with great regret that on occasion we did not meet our own expectations and a guest does not have as an enjoyable time with us as they should. Let us try and address each point raised as honestly as we can. We take great care to provide information prior to a guests arrival and our standard eail replies... More

Stayed one night six adults and two kids in three rooms. Non existent welcome. Left bags in breakfast room when we arrived as it was before 'check in'. When we got back much later, bags had not been taken to room as promised. Rooms: Poor quality of bed linen. Rooms dirty - all of them had mold on windows and... More

Located up an unsurfaced roadway with potholes big enough to damage a car. No assistance given with luggage. Breakfast poorly cooked and enquiries about it being cooked properly unwelcome. For another guest, from overseas, breakfast was refused altogther on the grounds that she was three minutes later than the deadline. It was NOT explained the previous night that there was... More

We are horrified that a guest of ours had an experience that prompted such a review as this. We are located up a lane that by its nature is not a made up road and its condition changes through the year but it is predominantly a reasonable surface. It is our normal proceedure to ask guests if they would like... More

The guest house was clean, quiet, and hospitable. However, the radiators went off at about 8 pm, so the room was cold by midnight, and it stayed cold all night. The simulated coal fire unit with an electric light bulb in my room seemed like a ridiculous attempt to appeal to mind over matter. Why not put an real heater... More

It is always a disappointment to us when a guest is not satisfied with their stay with us and we take it to heart. We must say that all bedrooms have independant electric heating and the imitation coal stove does actually have an electric heater built in. We can only apologise if the breakfast room was cool, sometimes we do... More

GlenCloy B&B is tucked away up a farm track, away from the main road through Brodick, and has a relaxed, unfussy atmosphere. Neil does a great job of breakfast, which is cooked to order just as you like it - with a dram of whiskey on request! We enjoyed great porridge, eggs, full 'Scottish' at any time we fancied, and... I have just been to Brodick, Arran on business and ended up having to stay over that night. However, I quickly found out that it was one of the busiest weekends on the Island and there was hardly any accommodation available. I found the last available room at the Glencloy, and to be honest I'm really glad it was with... More

Glencloy is a lovely old house with a real 'family' feel. Neil and his daughter were incredibly welcoming and I liked their very relaxed approach . My bedroom was spotless and, coming in after midnight, I really appreciated the tea and coffee tray.I'd been slightly nervous about sharing a bathroom but it was so big and well furnished with stacks... Just back from a stay on Arran. really liked this guesthouse. Yes, it was at the end of an unlit track but this gave us a brilliant opportunity to see teh starts with no light pollution so we weren't complaining! A torch does come in handy though. Breakast was fantastic and our room was lovely and comfortable. The owners were... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Glencloy Farmhouse is set in a peaceful glen just outside the village of Brodick on The Isle of Arran, known as Scotland in Miniature. We have individually furnished rooms all with views of the Gardens and Glen with its rolling green hills. Our gardens are home to a great number of wild birds that feed just outside the dining room window. We are well placed for a peaceful relaxing break or base for walking/cycling. Our position is enviable as we also have easy access to mountains, golf, museums, castle and fine eateries. All our rooms are individual and have views of the Glen, TV/Video, access to an extensive video library, freshly laundered bed linen and white fluffy towels and well stocked complimentary trays. The drawing room, which looks out into the gardens, is very comfortable, digital TV, books, games, DVDs, piano (should you wish to practice) and a very welcoming atmosphere. ... more   less
