I stayed here with my husband for a mini break,we have stayed a number of times in the past when the hotel had only three stars as opposed to the four it now has and we always ate in the restaurant in the evening as the food was excellent. However we were very disappointed when we ate there this time, the food,although... We stayed one night in May to celebrate my husband's birthday. We booked a sea view room with a king sized bed and although the room was pretty small it was clean, well decorated with wonderful views. The bed was comfortable and with well appointed bed linen. The bathroom was modern and well equipped, if again a little on the... More

Have stayed in this hotel a number of times over the years and have always had a really good time. The building is well kept inside and the front garden and tennis courts are a great addition. Not a bad price for a couple for a night with breakfast and always head up to The Electric or Morthoe for dinner.... More

Came across this hotel by pure luck! Drove to north Devon with intentions of finding somewhere to stay once we got there and went into Woolacombe Bay Hotel and fell in love with it! Was a little over what we planned on spending (£65pppn with breakfast) but once we saw the inside there was nowhere else we wanted to stay!... More

We love Woolacombe Bay Hotel and have been visiting every New Year for the past 7 years with our three children. Lovely, refurbished contemporary rooms, great food and peace and quiet at dinner as the children are at Kids's Club. Sweeping, beautiful beach that takes you right back to childhood even on the windiest days, wettest days. Couple of cafes... More

We stayed for 3 nights as a family in April during the Easter holidays. Our room was number 102 a "family" room - essentially a large sea view room with a children's bunk-bedded room off the hallway on the way to the bathroom where the light came in via a glass panel in the bathroom. The sea-view was lovely and... More

Stayed for a family weekend and will be back. The hotel has had a complete refurb since we stayed 6 years ago and nice the undo or pool is finished it will be amazing. The location is second to none, and the service within the hotel was great. We ate in the bistro and the food was lovely. The spa... More

Great beach & location, Hotel food excellent, staff helpful and pleasant. The upstairs Apartment we stayed in was rather tatty, door varnish wearing off, the kitchen needed a complete refurb and the well worn lounge furniture which was very uncomfortable as were the cheap matresses on the beds and the bed quilts were not big enough...it all needs replacing. Many thanks for your valuable feedback. We are always very interested in receiving feedback from our guests, the majority of which is positive. We are concerned to hear that you felt our apartments were not up to your standard, but have an on-going programme in place for re-developments and the apartments are very much on this list. We regret that... More

As other reviewers said, the location is second to none and the Hotel has clearly had money spent on decor and facilities. These are now great and, coupled with the excellent food in the Brasserie, amount to an excellent experience, but, the apartments now need the same investment if they are not to de-value the rest of the Woolacombe Bay... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Much of the Hotel has been lovingly restored from the mid 1800's, creating it's unique and tranquil atmosphere. High ceilings, chandeliers and comfortable, quiet lounges are a testament to that era, and where first class modern amenities are required, they have been skilfully incorporated into the existing Woolacombe accommodation. We place high value on our staff. Trained to be attentive yet unobtrusive and to provide the kind of personal service that is so often hard to find. ... more   less
