Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked 2 rooms for a 3 night stay - one a “Deluxe” room for elderly parents (€150 more than a Classic Room for 3 nights) and definitely not worth the money! Bathroom looked like never updated/shower door wouldn’t shut & fixed very old shower head! Nespresso Machine was a selling point yet pods not replenished & my Mum also had to go looking for milk as not replenished either. After checking in they then realised that there room had been changed on the card holder - previous room number crossed out & replaced with this room indicating that someone else had complained and got their room which could have been better! I have e- mailed the Hotel with my complaint twice and still had no response. Service in Ivy Bar for dinner also poor as staff not attentive and often disappeared!

We enjoyed our stay at Ashdown Park Hotel. The reception staff were very competent and friendly as was all the staff we came in contact with. The bedroom (207) was lovely and the mattress was very comfortable. We had a lovely lunch and enjoyed the 3 course dinner in the evening in the Ivy Bar. The cocktails were delicious. All the staff who served us on Thursday 29th were excellent particularly Lea and Cleo, sorry we did not get the rest of the names. It is a 10/15 minute walk in to Gorey town. We look forward to returning soon.

After walking along the seashore at Cahore had a wonderful lunch of Sea Bream and tasty potatoes in the covered patio area. My family also had excellent lunches of Fish and Chips, Cheeze Burger and Ceaser Salad on Focaccia followed by delicious coffee.

Some staff could do with retraining. When checking out we were never asked how our stay went. So never got the chance to show the photo of stained bed linen only seen at 1am. Stained carpet in the room. Saving grace was the breakfast and one very nice sever. We won't be back.

Had you reported at the time we would have replaced immediately, although I understand it was very late. we have our own in house laundry and we don't get these types of linen issues in general however, as I said have would have rectified immediately. I will review your comments with the front desk team. hopefully you will afford us another opportunity. Please feel free to contact personally if you wish to rebook. Kind regards, Paul Finegan

Welcoming obliging staff from receptionist, to bar staff, breakfast staff and the housekeeping team. We are well travelled and without a doubt we experienced the most naturally friendly, helpful staff we have ever had the pleasure to encounter in a hotel and, there was no exception. The Hotel was very busy but there was a smile on every staff face. It was a delightful visit. And, the breakfast was delicious.

I had high hopes for this hotel. Price for 2 people is the same as 1 person (via their website). Having completed the booking, should you have the audacity to decide in the future you'd like to have a friend share the room you'll be charged an additional 60 Euro per night. (50 if no breakfast). This is just odd. I fully understand that the hotel must know who is in the building from a safety perspective, however I could have just added on my friend at the time of booking and wouldn't have been charged any extra. So in future I'll do that when booking hotels regardless of whether a friend is staying all or zero nights, thus giving the hotel a false number of guests. There is just no logic on the part of APH. Welcome to Ireland!

All the hype for the food been farm to fork we were looking forward to the stay and eating there . What a complete let down it was, the food was really bad . The steak was tough struggle to cut it with the steak knife and the pork belly was over cooked to the point of it been inedible not to mention the mash. The three course meal took over three and a half hours

Dear stephengC288TC, We addressed this with you on the night. The timeline is not correct. Alternatives were offered but not accepted. I am sorry you were disappointed. We are always as accommodating as possible and we facilitated a move from the restaurant to the bar for some of your party at the last minute on NYE. Steaks are very specific to the guest but I was there on the night and I would disagree with your review regarding the steak. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Kind regards, Paul Finegan
