We stayed only two nights at Cloch na Scith - but it was a wonderful spot to tour Connnemara. There are two cottages on site - the first is the B&B and the second is the self-catering cottage. We had a bit of communications confusion at first - we were two couples and Nancy didn't have room for two in... More

Cloch na Scith is indeed a very pretty property but our one night was less than ideal due to some misunderstanding and difficult communication. We were not expected although we had booked, and there was no sign at the front of the property that made it difficult to find. Our breakfast was different to our order, and the room we... More

Although the sign was down ( the owner said it was being painted) we located the cottage with some help from the gas station a mile away. It is picture perfect Old Ireland, both outside and in. The cottages are a short walk from the ocean and date from the 1800s. Ceilings are low and furnishing fit the exterior. However,... More

If you want a skillful blend of the old and the new let this be one of your destinations on your trip to the West of Ireland. The combination of the old thatched cottage 'heritage' and the modern accommodation is so well done! Tom and Nancy couldn't have been nicer hosts, the old style living room with all the old... More

Reading a book by the peat fire and having a drink, after a long day driving through and stopping all over the Connemare region, was the perfect way to end a day. This house is very cozy and has a wonderful inn-keeper, Nancy, and the breakfast excellent. It's everything you would expect from B&B in Ireland.

Beautiful thatched cottage both inside and out. We spent two nights at Tom and Nancy's inviting accommodations. The pete fired gathering room is a welcome sanctuary from a trip to either the Connemara or Aran islands. The breakfasts are wonderful and the soda bread is THE BEST in Ireland. We highly recommend this B & B for anyone visiting this... More

Nancy and Tom were fantastic hosts, the location was perfect, the room clean and comfortable, and the breakfast top-notch. If you are going to Galway and Connemara, Cloch na Scith should be the B&B you choose:)

In ten days travel thru the South and West, 8 different B and B's...Nancy's Thatch Cottage is by far the very best. Not only true Irish hospitality, but...the authenic baking over the peat fire, that never seems to go out, to the evening tea and game of scrabble. Our room was beautiful and spotless, with a view of the water... More

We were seeking the real personality of Ireland - not the big city sameness, but the real character of the country and its people. We found it at Cloch na Scith, that's for sure. This over 200 year old thatched cottage gave us the unique opportunity to stay in a historic home and pretend it was our own. Nancy greeted... More

My husband and I and my sister and her husband spent 3 nights here on a trip to Western Ireland. We loved Cloch na Scith. What a treat to stay in a historical Thatched Cottage. Nancy greeted us with tea/coffee and a freshly baked apple tart. Our rooms were big and very comfortable with lovely linens and immaculately clean. My... More
