6 of us stayed here recently and enjoyed rooms with beautiful views, lovely ironed linens, fantastic continental breakfast with freshly baked bread rolls, buffet 3 course dinner for just 15 euro with a wide variety of delicious dishes and a warm ambiance. Yes it's a little rough around the edges and the showers are a but old but it's the best budget accommodation.

I had a great time at Mainistir House- very friendly host and delicious elaborate dinner. It's far away enough from the main pier to be quiet, but still an easy walk to Joe Watty's. If you're visiting Inis Mór, do yourself a favor and stay overnight at Mainistir House, so you'll get a chance to really appreciate the island.

I was blown away by the fantastic views from the windows of my room. The hostel was wonderfully eccentric with uniquely colored rooms and classical music floating through the halls at all hours. I adored my hosts Glen and Joel, both of whom were quick to hook me up with an affordable room in the hostel despite my late arrival. Additionally, Glen went out of his way to ensure I had a wonderful stay on the island. The dinners were fantastic, my server was incredibly handsome, and the entire ambiance was perfect. I had planned on a day trip and ended up staying for four days!! I highly recommend this hostel for your next stay.

This place is as quirky as they get. The rooms are excellent for the price, and the location is great - but the food is the absolute highlight. The owner / chef is just a master and cooks up a storm on demand. I was presented with a 3 course buffet when there were only 5 of us staying there. Definitely recommend the place - as long as you like great food and quirk.

We booked a room in Mainistir House last minute and Glen was very quick to respond and get us a very affordable room. Glen and Joel are extremely warm and friendly hosts. The room was very cozy and spacious. Glen invited us to eat at the restaurant in the evening and it was so much more than expected. We had an exquisite three course vegetarian meal. In the morning Joel made us homemade scones, again amazing chef. We would highly recommend anyone looking for a comfortable and unique experience on the Island.

Called in late in the evening. Joelle was super host and cooked a fantastic meal. It was a really tasty ragu. There was huge portion and the vegetables and salads were lovely. Beetroot in orange, Waldorf salad, perfectly roasted potatoes, really well cooked carrots, cauliflowers with local Aran cheese Really fresh foods cooked perfectly. It was a real treat Very informal setting and made feel most welcome.

On a recent trip to Inishmore my three friends and I had dinner at Mainistir House. The three courses and tea/coffee were scrumptious and we could have had seconds of the mains, buffet style; all in all it was superb and we would like to thank Joel for a memorable evening.

I don't usually write a bad review but I was saddened at the waste of potential of this place in such an ideal location. It was so so cold... The heating came on as we were leaving the hostel for day activities. The owner is considerably hostile and appears to be somewhat inconvenienced by our presence. I appreciate that he was working alone with a fully booked hostel and he managed well but a smile would go a long way....
