This place is for undergraduate students who are looking for a cheap place to crash. At one point it used to be a nice facility, but now it looks like nothing--I mean NOTHING--has been updated since it was built. My room is supposedly a deluxe room, which were supposed to be renovated. Like I said, nothing looks renovated. The carpet... More

Old and tired. 1. bathroom fixture problem 2. torn curtain 3. construction right outside my window 4. old beat up furniture 5. holes in the wall 6. no wifi, only in specific wings, apparently not mine 7. probably the worst mattress I have ever had in a hotel room, old school, bouncy, bad. I didn't rate the restaurant. They did... More

I would definitely recommend University Place on the campus of Portland State University as a very good economical and convenient place to stay in Portland. Rooms were nice, staff was excellent, walking distance to river, downtown center, pubic transportation very close, car rental onsite, and breakfast included.

University Place is very convenient for a vacation in Portland. Close to the waterfront and good restaurants. Also, very close to Portland University. We enjoyed our stay but the service as average. The room was a little noisy so was hard to sleep.

We have stayed at University Place on several occasions in the past, so knew not to expect a 5 star hotel. Booked a "deluxe" room since there was indication these rooms had been updated. Don't waste your money on a "deluxe" room. The only differences compared to a regular room are a flat screen tv, Keurig(sp?) coffee maker, microwave/refrigerator, and... More

The room was, well, roomy. It had a chair to hang out in and a chair and desk to work at. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful if not always knowledgable about the area. It was a great value considering the competition. If you want to feel like you are downtown, this is not the place,... More

Feces on the Shower curtain! After a night of listening to loud partying (the rooms are not sound proof at all!), I got in the shower, and there was feces on the shower curtain. This is clearly not a clean hotel. There were several other cleanliness problems, but I have never been so disgusted in my life. I would never,... More

We stayed a total of 3 nights at this hotel in late October. The first two nights we were placed in a room that faced the open pool area with outdated decor. On both nights there were other guests who were loud, up late, and smoking (which we could smell through our heating/ac window unit.) We requested a room change... More

The room was large, which was nice, but not very clean. It was cheap, though, and you get what you pay for. To get internet you have to plug your computer into an Ethernet cord that only extends a foot from the wall. Sounds can be heard very easily from the next room. If you stay here maybe ask if... More
