The hotel needs a lick of paint and some TLC, but our room was warm and comfortable. We were the only guests that night, so we were asked what time we would like breakfast, instead of being told when we could have it. We found this a nice touch. We had the restaurant to ourselves, and the meal was excellent.... More

Situated on a quaint village green but just a mile from the kent coastal town of Hythe, we initially found this hotel when looking for somewhere for lunch. It does great food and it was really cosy with an open fire. The Castle has 6 rooms, so we booked the family room for a November weekend. This has a comfortable... More

We live in continental Europe and it is nice to get back to the UK for a shopping trip now and then. We drive via the Channel Tunnel at Calais which brings us into England at Folkstone. A day shopping there, then it's a ten minute drive to the village of Saltwood for an overnight stay at The Castle Hotel.... More

We stayed here for one night as a stop over going on to France. The staff and locals were all so friendly, made me and my hubbie so welcome. Yes the bar could do with a lick of paint, but the room we stayed in was fine, it was clean and bed comfortable and a bargain for £45 with breakfast... More

we have stayed here twice, sing it as a stop over to and from France and on both occasions we have been impressed by the friendliness of all the staff and regular customers. They all made us and our dog and feel very welcome. Also the food is excellent, home made steak and kidney pudding is fantastic when you have... More

My daughter and I stayed here after a day at an expensive hotel's spa. The village that it sits in is so very old fashioned English - wonderful, right opposite the village green. The room was comfortable, the decor was a little tired and a bit tatty in places, but the room was clean, the beds very comfortable and the... More

The landlord and his team were very friendly and helpful. This is a lovely country inn in a beautiful setting. The rooms have been improved greatly, we were two families and both had four poster beds. The breakfast was fine and the evening meal very traditional pub food and plenty of it. More

When we arrived we had that feeling that said "is this it?" The hotel (Pub) needs a really good lick of paint and a brighten up. The welcome was okay, nothing special, We stayed in the Winsdor room for two nights with four poster bed, again very basic, couldn't bring myself to use room kettle as too much green scale... More

We stayed here on our way to and from France as a convenient stopover. Food was lovely, parking facilities were good and the staff/owners were friendly and helpful. However the room itself was a bit shabby, there were damp patches in the bathroom and the macerator was leaking. The shower head was held together with tape and the wardrobe doors were held... More
