4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2013 NEW

Small and perfectly formed, we've been coming here off and on for 15 years. It's right on the beach, the staff are extremely obliging and the menu quite adventurous. Perhaps because things are done consistently well, with a range of bars and restaurants, it's more pricey than most of the island, but we think think it's worth it, because it... More

Don't expect glamour. This is the English seaside. But if you're visiting friends on this part of the Isle of Wight and you don't want the faded elegance of Priory Bay, this is a smart choice. The rooms are small but comfortably decorated with a maritime splash. Service is faultless. Bearing in mind we were booked as part of a... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review, hotel school indeed - that made us all smile! You are right a lot of our produce is island sourced (currently around 75%), we even have our own farm supplying fresh meat and vegetables. Next year we plan to serve a lot more heritage varieties and so our gardener is busy experimenting... More

We stayed at the Seaview for a second time having received details of a special weekend break. The hotel was as good as we remembered and is situated in what, for us, is one of the best bits of the island. Accommodation was a spacious first floor bedroom facing out onto what is a very quiet road. We ate breakfast... More

What a nice review and we are all so glad that you decided to return. We have recently appointed a new chef, Alan Staley, who is widely regarded as one of the best chefs on the island. He was delighted to read your comments and rest assured Alan plans to continue developing the menu incorporating more local and island produce.... More

Having stayed in many average and poor hotels and guest houses on the Isle of Wight, it was such a relief to find a hotel which lived upto its reputation. Having failed miserably to find a family room for a two day break over Easter Weekend, we were pleasantly surprised to find The Seaview had twin interconnecting rooms avalable in... More

Thank you for finding us over Easter weekend and taking the time to post your review. We love to read such feedback and it gives us all a real boost. The hotel is rather unique - as mentioned we have the Modern building situated on Rope Walk - with more contemporary rooms and TV in the bathrooms! There's also the... More

Four of us had lunch mid-week here and we were all pleasantly surprised, they do a 2 for 1 lunch menu which we thought we would try, the food was lovely and great value, the atmosphere is relaxed and the waitress was really polite and friendly, will definitely return for a evening meal!! Well worth a visit. .

Thank you for posting a review on your lunch experience. As you may now we have recently appointed a new head chef, Alan Staley. He has a long pedigree and a string of awards under his belt and we were over-the-moon when he decided to accept the position. Alan was originally trained at the Savoy hotel and the French classical... More

We have stayed at The Seaview Hotel now on 4 occaisions and have had a good stay each time. If things arn't to your liking they are quick to fix and the staff are very attentive. The in house restaurant is of a good standard although we have found that the breakfast can sometimes be a bit hit and miss.... More

Alone, I booked a restorative three-day break and stayed for four. The kind attentiveness and gentle humour of Richard, Manager; the caring, responsive staff - each and every one of them-was worthy of a great accolade from someone better qualified than I. The food was terrific and I speak as one with a huge Cookery Book Collection dating from the... More

The Seaview has history, location and seaviews to its credit. Its proximity to everything that first time visitors like us wished to see and experience on the Isle of Wight is a given. My grandfather's ship HMS Ramillies has an honoured place in the hotel's splendid display of maritime photographs. But points of detail let this hotel down. From our... More

We went to the Seaview Hotel for dinner with a couple of friends expecting to have good food, good wine and good service. The food varied from mediocre to acceptable, certainly not good or excellent. I think the chef that night had forgotten that food is normally served up hot!! The menu was also misleading, especially with regard to the... More
