Beech House is located about a mile off the A595 main road from Carlisle to Whitehaven in the north of Cumbria. Consequently it is actually well placed for anyone wishing to explore the Northern Lakes (e.g. Buttermere, Wastwater, Ennerdale) and is only a short drive from the pretty town of Cockermouth and the bustling hill walkers' town of Keswick. Even... More

I selected this B&B to be close to the North and North Western Fells and to "tick off" a few Wainwrights. It was the perfect base and Caroline and Dave made me very welcome. I really liked the small details like the fruit and biscuits in the room, the slippers and dressing gown gave it an up market hotel feel... More

Arriving after a 23 hour journey featuring five modes of transport, any bed would have been a welcome one, but Beech House over delivered. The property is beautifully furnished and finished, accentuating it's natural mid-nineteenth century charm with contemporary amenities. Our loft bedroom had lovely views over the smallholding and to the woods beyond, a large bathroom with excellent products... More

We had 3 nights at Beech House and enjoyed it very much indeed. We felt immediately welcome and relaxed in clean and comfortable surroundings. We were given an interesting tour of the smallholding, which leads me to the best part of our stay, the food. The home grown bacon and sausages were simply outstanding, I've not tasted better and I'm... More

Caroline & Dave were lovely, the house was lovely and couldn't get enough of their breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to taste Caroline's steak and kidney pie but would go back for that alone! The small holding is lovely and was great to help hand feed the sheep. very quiet but great location for local pubs and lakes.... More

Just got back from a 2 night stay at Beech House and loved it. We had the master suite which was spacious, well-equipped, spotlessly clean and overall, a beautifully decorated room. We didn't spend much time in the lounge because we went out walking but it would have been a great place to while away an afternoon or evening if... More

We stayed at the Beech House B&B for one night over the August bank holiday, and how I wish we had planned to stay for more! This was an amazing little gem; from the minute we arrived, we couldn’t have asked for more. The little touches of fruit and chocolates in the room on arrival, slippers and dressing gowns, the... Stayed two nights in Beech House, lovely room with onsuite over looking the quiet village green. Friendly welcome and cuppa as we arrived, small touches in the rooms were appreciated such the Dressing Gowns, slippers, choclates etc. Breakfasts very nice indeed, home made bread, with bacon and sausages from their own pigs on the smallholding . The residents lounge was... More
