Or set the heating controls in the bar for the same temperature as the heart of the sun. Thankfully, May at the moment thinks it is January and it was cold outside or the heat from the bar would have melted the hardiest of traveller. There were several large fans moving hot air around the bar, but the noise was... More

The majestic facade of the building as you drive in gives the impression of a up-market modern hotel, indeed I can remember a time when it was. My latest stay revealed that it is getting a bit run down - a tile missing of the wall in one of the loos, a window in my room that would not close,... More

Stayed here as part of a wedding party with the event held elsewhere. We paid a £55 wedding special rate. Normal rates are circa £150. The rooms are basic and in need of modernisation. Old decor, 70s style colouring and dated furniture make the aesthetics pretty boring, but a comfortable night’s sleep can be obtained. The bathroom is fine, with... More

I just recently stayed a this property for several nights and while it does need some updating, I had a nice, reasonably comfortable stay. The staff was very polite and alert to my needs. However, I did feel the housekeeping staff was not putting in the necessary effort for such a property.

I haven't stayed here or eaten in the restaurant, but can recommend the coffee! They include a very nice couple of biscuits with the coffee too. Sandwiches are generally good too, although they do have the odd off day. NIcest place to have coffee is at one of the huge coffee tables in reception, as it's away from the ubiquitous... More

I have stayed at the Bellhouse many times over the last 20 years and watched its rise and fall in standards. the staff & management do we'll to keep this ageing hotel going. I understand it will have a major refurbishment in the next year. I have found the food to be good, pleasant lounge/bar overlooking a nice pool. The... More

I booked 2 nights at the Bellhouse over the Easter break, I was a little apprehensive due to the other reviews and also how cheap it was (i paid £116, 2 nights B&B, 2 adults sharing). On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming & friendly, our room was pleasant and clean. Bar area was especially nice overlooking the indoor pool... More

I’ve stayed at this hotel probably 3-4 times in the last few years. It’s a hotel close to an office I sometimes work out of. I stayed there back in early Feb. 2013 and this stay coupled with my last experiences prompted me to write a few words about the hotel. Positives: They also have a decent bar (which overlooks... Dear Simon S Thank you for your comments both positive and negative. in regard to the negatives, we are currently in the process of a full refurbishment starting with the bedrooms. Hotel is in desperate need of update with customer services and decor. General appearance is shabby and unkept. As for the pool and jacuzzi very dirty with terrible ring of scale around it. Changing rooms not clean. Lunch was in the restaurant and of unedible standard especially the strawberry gateaux which appeared soft to look at yet was like concrete... More

other hotels in the same area are much better at a bit higher price. this one has old furniture, maintenance is kept at minimum. the general feeling is of not being in a very clean place, I guess even because of the old furnitures and carpet. the breakfast is not at level. the staff is ok, but not at standard...
