We stayed at the Ecotel Quinta Regia for one night as part of a birdwatching tour with Ecocolors. We arrived early and we were able to get our room well before the standard check-in time. Check-in was quick. They had a nice bar area to lounge in, but we did not eat there. We were out that night and left early before the free breakfast. The buildings and grounds were very nice. The rooms were standard, but clean and good looking with a little porch area attached. It was a bit of a long way to haul our luggage out from our room. They allowed us to store our bags there while we were out birding. Overall a really nice place in a good location for the attractions in the area. I would recommend it.

It is a 15-20 minute walk to main square. Room was nice with walk in shower and parking was good. The grounds had lots of tropical vegetation and a swimming pool which was ok for short laps if no one else present. The restaurant onsite was convenient and served tasty food. Unfortunately, the room had a musty odor which did not disappear with the A/C.

We stayed at this pleasant and relaxing hotel for 5 days while exploring the Mayan remains and cenotes in the area. The hotel was not busy during our stay, so we slept and breakfasted extremely well. Our room was large, comfortable and dimly lit, and looked out over lush green gardens. We never managed to have more than a tepid shower, but in the heat this didn’t really matter. A tip for future visitors - taxis from outside the town, eg Cancun airport, are always sent by their SatNavs to the rear entrance of the hotel and it is not obvious how to find reception from there, and they cannot drive from there to the front entrance due to the one-way street system! Just phone reception and they will guide you in.... The hotel is an easy walk into the centre of Valladolid, where there is plenty to see and eat.

Hotel is nice, clean, quiet. Staff is lovely and very helpful. Hotel restaurant can serve good local food - comida tipico yucateca. Suggest eating outside under the palapa (thatched roof outdoor patio) rather than the stuffy dining room—just ask! The pool is pleasant and with the palapa, a nice place to have a drink and relax. Decent local restaurants in walking distance. La Selva is just a few blocks away. Try the panuchos—fantastic. And they make an excellent agua de chaya. I asked everywhere whether the ice was made with agua purificado, and yes, it is. Also recommend a little local place in an open air arcade with shops and restaurants just on the ne corner of the central square. Locheria el amigo Casiano. Nothing to look at, but cheap and good. The Mayan people are lovely!

The hotel was announced as something special and we went there full of hopes. When we arrive a queue of Asian blocked the room and only after a few minutes I realized that they were finished with checking in. The woman who was responsible for checking in didn’t say anything. That’s a pity. After walking through the Asian crowd I asked if they were finnished and if we could check in. We did. The room was nice with old furniture and we liked it much ( but it smelled a little bit, well l think old. The area around the hotel is awesome full with fantastic flowers and everything is more than nice. We had dinner in the restaurant there it was quite delicious but the menu was in Spanish and the waiter could only speak a few words English. The night there was not the best - you could listen everything what your neighbours or the people on the next floor did. Unfortunately we had some strange guys above our beds which started pulling chairs or something through the room at 3 am!!! It’s so keen-eared there ..we were happy when we could go and have breakfast and left totally tired. I know the staff can’t do anything against thin walls, but 5 start should offer more.

This is a large, older style sprawling property on the outskirts of town, popular with tour groups. Rooms are large and comfortable with efficient a/c and a balcony. The hotel is made up of several low-rise buildings set in attractive lush gardens, there's a swimming pool, a tennis court and an indoor/outdoor restaurant. Although on the outskirts, it's only a 10-12 minute easy flat walk to the town centre. A good option in Valladolid.

Nice room with balcony and overall clean. Nice outdoor areas with beautiful plants and flowers. Some nice staff. But: -Some staff (in the reception) was pretty nonchalant. -The television did not work. -A loud aircon that disturbed the sleep. -Barking dogs outside building. -A powercut for at least 2 hours with no information, service, compensation or anything. They put up a sign outside, but that was in spanish. -Almost no one of the staff speaks english. -Pretty expensive breakfast menu. -No towels in the room when we arrived. I have to say we had higher expectations of this place than this and unfortunately I can not really recommend it.

All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and full of smiles. They are an asset to the hotel. We also really liked how clean the place was, the speed of the WiFi (once it was working), and the beautiful grounds. Unfortunately though, it seems that the hotel is run by Scrooge as everything else felt very budget. Our booking did not state what type of breakfast we would have but we were told on arrival that we would be having the continental. This consisted on a small plate of fresh fruit (which was nice) and a few measly pieces of sliced bread from a packet. There was also juice but it was not fresh. We left the breakfast with sad faces as it fell short in both quality and quantity. Amongst other basic things usually provided, the room was missing coffee/tea and toiletries besides one shampoo and two small soaps. Although we did not mind, it’s worth noting there was also no fridge, bath robes or stationary. There was only one chair on each balcony. This is the first hotel we stayed which did not provide drinking water. It’s ironic that the hotel call themselves an ‘ecotel’ when guests have to keep buying plastic bottles. There’s also no recycling that we saw, paper napkins in the restaurant and the rooms are garnished with origami-style tissues, which is quite wasteful. Our room consisted of two small, yet comfortable, double beds and was meant for up to four people. However, there are only two plug sockets and just one of these is by the bed. This means that if the lamp is plugged in, you cannot charge anything next to the bed. There’s another plug in the bathroom but it is of no use for people using an adapter owing to the casing around it. The pool was fine but the sun-loungers have no umbrellas for shade. So unless you enjoy sizzling in the sun like a sausage at a barbecue, you can’t use them. This could have been a wonderful hotel, and with a bit of investment it probably can be. Right now it’s lacking the magic touches found in it’s rivals.

A two night trip in December 2017. We loved the hotel, very relaxing, it was set in beautiful gardens, lovely spacious rooms, very colonial decor, very clean and reasonably priced with friendly staff, and nice restaurant. We found it an easy short walk to the centre of Valaodolid. Would definitely return.
