Kenauk Nature is a vast 265 km2 (65,000 acre) private landscape established in the 19th century to conserve and protect wildlife habitat. Our magnificent hardwood forest encompasses 65 lakes, 25 of them designated for fishing a wide variety of fish, including rainbow, speckled and lake trout, large-mouth and small-mouth bass and northern pike. For guests to fully experience the wilderness, we offer secluded first-class chalets, with one to six bedrooms. Each private cabin comes equipped with propane lights, fully equipped kitchen, outside barbecue, furnace and hot water tank provided by propane gas, complete bathroom for your comfort and spacious screened porch or a large balcony. Property's Favourite Review
This was our 5th stay at Kenauk, but the first time in Wilson chalet. It was the largest cabin we’ve ever had, and if anything we wondered if it might seem a little large for the four of us and not in the spirit of Kenauk with solar lighting and electricity. This was not the case at all. The cabin was spacious but perfect for our needs, with the added benefit of additional bathrooms (including one amazingly with a proper bath). Gone are the gas lights, in favour of solar powered LEDs, which saves a lot of scorched fingers! The ability to charge your phone etc, even if you cannot use it was useful. The cabin had two bedrooms downstairs, one with a king bed and one with a double/twin bunk. Upstairs was a loft with three singles. A huge living area downstairs and a seating area upstairs, in addition to the screened porch at the side gave us ample living space. The games area downstairs was nice for a late night game of pool, or if it had been rainy (which luckily it wasn’t). Outside at the front was a small firepit area that we didn’t use much as we couldn’t get the firepit lit, but the main deck at the back was so amazing we used this all the time for eating and lounging. It was really nice to have somewhere to sit at night but that wasn’t completely open to the strange rustlings in the undergrowth! The only issue was the BBQ which we couldn’t get to work fully. Down a flight of steps is the dock area with two single person kayaks, a canoe and three rowing boats. The canoe was by far our favourite and we wished there had been two as we had to take turns in going out two people at a time. My only suggestion for improvement would be the provision of a water dispenser as you don’t really want to drink the water as it has a weird smell, and it seems counter intuitive in a place like this to bring along a lot of water in single use plastic bottles. It broke my heart to have to decline the invitation to rebook for next year, but we are already planning a trip in 2024 for my 50th birthday! Every time we stay here, we wish we had stayed longer. Kenauk has always been a really special place for us, and somewhere we dream of when we are at home in the UK. This stay only made that feeling stronger.

Thank you so much for this complete review, We're delighted to know that you picked Kenauk Nature for your 50th birthday. Be sure to mention it to our team when booking! Your comment for the water is noted, our chalets have water softener systems to eliminate the taste. Sometimes they need to be fine tuned in order to work more efficiently. Same for the grill, we notified our maintenance team to make sure that the next guests can fully enjoy it! Thank you again!

From the moment we arrived at Kenauk Nature, it was clear we were in for an extraordinary experience. Nestled amidst pristine wilderness, the chalet we rented was a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, ideal for our group of families and friends. Accommodation: The chalet was spacious, ensuring that each family had ample privacy, yet designed with communal areas that were inviting and cozy. The bedrooms were comfortable, each with picturesque views of the surrounding nature. The kitchen was well-equipped, making meal preparation for our group a breeze. Activities for Kids: Kenauk Nature was a paradise for the children. They were thrilled with the outdoor adventures, from kayaking on the serene lake to hiking through the lush forests. The highlight for them was the wildlife spotting – we even caught a glimpse of a deer at dawn! Group Activities: As a group, we enjoyed the array of activities available. Fishing in the well-stocked lakes was a hit, and the friendly competition of clay pigeon shooting was a unique experience we all cherished. The evenings were spent around the firepit, sharing stories and making memories. Service: The staff at Kenauk Nature were exceptional. They ensured our stay was comfortable and were knowledgeable about the area, giving us great tips on how to make the most of our stay. Overall Experience: This trip was more than just a getaway; it was an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature and each other. The tranquility of the surroundings, the comfort of the chalet, and the variety of activities made this an ideal destination for families and friends looking for a special retreat.

The prestige offered by this renowned resort is equaled only by the breath taking beauty of its landscape. The attention to detail and professionalism of the staff can be experienced from the front gate, well into every room of these palatial chalets. Unique, private and managed with class, Mr Trudeau’s team made Keanuk nature the perfect getaway. My friends and I have made it a yearly rendezvous we can’t wait to get back to and the children talk about it all year round. Whether you are a skilled fly fishing enthusiast or a seasoned hunter - or you just want to relax in Quebec’s best preserved natural reserve Keanuk nature seems to be ready for everything.

We rented the Fairlight cabin for a group of friends: 11 adults and 9 kids, and fit easily. What a beautiful place. Wonderful views, hiking, wildlife, and boating. The very large cabin is well thought-out including the kitchen/ dining arrangement, some recreation spaces downstairs, and a wood-burning hot tub outside with robes and towels. High quality materials and large rooms= you don't have to hear everyone (ahem 9 kids!) We got the floating sauna... amazing! It is very remote and private. A much-needed, relaxing experience.

Unbelievable cancellation policy. They keep all your money then add 50 percent up charge as a cancellation fee. Wanted to celebrate a 40 year wedding anniversary that was not possible because of Covid. In addition cancellation policy was no where to be found on their website. Only became aware of it once they sent invoice after charging our credit card. Over 1000 dollars and did not stay at all. Response from management...this is our policy. Be very aware of this policy before you book anything with this resort. In our many years of travel have never ever seem anything like this!

Having had previous knowledge I felt that this environment would be the perfect place to celebrate a special birthday. Family came from all over Canada and truly appreciated the uniqueness of the Kenauk offering. Despite a rainy weekend we enjoyed time on the water, walks in the forest and time to engage in an "off- grid" experience. Highly recommended!!

Kenauk Nature is an absolute hidden gem, and our favorite thing about living in Ottawa! We are close enough to visit whenever we feel the longing to be immersed in nature and to refresh our souls. We stayed at the Commandant, a cozy rustic cottage that sleeps 4, located on Papineau Lake. We had our own private dock, canoe, kayak, and also a motor boat to explore the lake. The sunsets here are stunning. I don’t know which we enjoy more, starting or ending our day on the dock. The Commandant also has a gorgeous claw foot bathtub. Be sure to bring a book and some bath salts to make the most of a relaxing soak in this fabulous tub. We tried our hand at clay shooting! What a super fun family activity! If you haven’t tried it before, we recommend it. Fabrice was an excellent instructor, as this was the first time shooting for all of us! Emma & Alexane were very helpful at check in & out. We stayed 3 nights and could have happily stayed longer. If you are wondering if you try Kenauk Nature, you absolutely should! You will find peace, relaxation & pure contentment.

An amazing mornings fishing with Guillaume- my husband has fished all over the Uk but always wanted to fish in Canada and this trip did not disappoint. We were met at one of the many beautiful secluded lakes where Guillaume had everything ready. We caught within the first few metres of casting off from the dock. Our friendly guide was incredibly knowledgeable about fishing and the Canadian wild life and we had a fascinating insight into the area. 22 rainbow trout in 3 hours- we’ll definitively be back and hopefully this time stay in a beautiful cabin as well
