This is an older hotel but it has been kept up to date. Our accomodations were clean. The staff was professional and very helpful. The free breakfast was above average. Very convenient to restaurants downtown and historic Old Salem--all at a very reasonable price. We would definitely stay here again. More

I stayed here while interviewing at Wake Forest medical center. I have absolutely no complaints, except maybe that you have to lift luggage up and down a few steps to get to the elevator. I always enjoy the Hawthorne; it's like going to a friend's house. The front office always remembers my name. The room is always clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are always good...and always free. One suggestion, sell Sunday papers at the front desk to prevent the theft of papers for the coupons. More
