Last week I returned to this hotel after 4 years. Nothing changed in this place which means it keeps it's quality. The service is good and breakfast is excellent. The rooms are spacious and clean. I think I had found my base camp in Bavaria in this place.

What an incredible view, with a cute garden out the window and the side of a meadowy mountain behind that. Cows with bells around their necks wander the hills and make a pleasant tinkling sound. The hotel is beautifully situated in Obergrainau, facing the Waxensteinchain and the Zugspitze. Ample parking space and only a few minutes walk to the village center. Even the Untergrainau center - somewhat larger than Obergrainau - takes only a quarter of an hour walk. We have been staying at this hotel since 1985. Family operated, it's a delightful hotel in Bavaria's most beautiful village. 2 km to Garmisch. The hotel is spotlessly clean, great views, charming. Does not have a lift, but a wide easy stairway. Large rooms, superb breakfast. Bavaria at it's finest.
