Very interesting spot--combination of historical (founded in 1924) and elegant. Room was a little smaller than the typical hotel, but more than adequate for comfortable living and easy working, though there weren't any available outlets close to the desk. Bedding was luxurious, and bathroom was well-designed and well-appointed. Breakfast was excellent, and staff was all very friendly and service-oriented.

Beautiful inn, wonderful rooms, exceptional staff, very quiet, convenient to both university and downtown. The conference facilities were perfect for our meeting of about 150 people. I can't think of a single thing that could be improved.

Wish they had been honest about how they were accepting reservations for commencement. We were told twice by their own front desk staff that they were opening up reservations for the following years commencement at a certain date and time, only to find out that they accepted reservations a week earlier from their "preferred guests" so no rooms are available... Have been coming here for 5 years. Always a great hotel, in an outstanding location, however the recent renovation (to the entire hotel) was much needed. Not only was it done, it was done beautifully and with tremendous thought to the integrity of the property. A must stay if coming to The University

This historic hotel is charming. Great staff, convenient location and very close to university. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms are tiny. They are updated but its tight. My biggest complaint are the way the room doors close. They are so loud that it woke me several times. I switched to a corner room on 3rd floor which... More

This hotel is quaint and historical, but if you want the basic amenities and comfort I would recommend somewhere else. There were some positives. The location is right on campus and near the busy Franklin Street with shops and restaurants. The building and grounds are gorgeous. The shower and toiletries were luxurious. Also, they allowed me to check in at... More

Beautiful historic hotel in excellent location. Small room with large bed, hot water in the shower takes time to come on, average toiletries, breakfast buffet was average, but lunch buffet was good. Nice, friendly staff.

I stayed at The Carolina Inn on April 30 - May 2 `13. My room was excellent in every way, the staff, from Valet to desk clerks to bar staff, etc. did anything and everything to make my stay pleasant and enjoyable. The diamond of Chapel Hill lived up to ALL my expectations, and thanks to Living Social, at a... More

Once again, I was not disappointed! I was greeted with genuine hospitality by every employee with whom I had contact. The room was immaculate, and I especially loved the bowl of fresh fruit and complimentary bottles of water in the room. The breakfast was delicious and the service was flawless. Everyone is so gracious and eager to make your stay... More

The Carolina Inn is a gem tucked away in the green folds of Chapel Hill. Not a glittering, hard gem, but one with a warm, comforting glow, softened with the passage of time. This is a heritage property with a history that is proudly emblazoned on evey wall, nook and cranny. The beauty is that, even as the management has... More
