May 2013 My wife and I attended at the Gateway Motel for a nice evening mothers day meal. This didn't happen. There was a power blackout in the town which wasn't their fault but they lit candles and placed them on the tables. Meals were Ok but the service from the staff was Appalling. we had to clear our own... More

We spent one night in this motel after a long drive from Port Hedland. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. Carnarvon doesn't have much choice when it comes to eating so we opted for the "seafood buffet" which was on offer that night. $40 each so not really expensive but the food was mostly very unappetising. I am... More

Was expecting the worst after reading the reviews but this was fine. We stayed a single night in winter and found it simple, no-frills and clean. Nowhere near as bad as expected and no problems with mosquitos/cockroaches etc (it was winter, so maybe they were all asleep). Beds were fine and plenty of hot water for the chilly mornings. Buffet... More

Not clean enough for a dog; teeming with cockroaches and mice, filthy carpets, mouse feces on bed and in sink, paper-thin walls, hair in bed and shower..... AVOID!!!

I stayed here last minute during my 1500km drive from Perth to Karratha. I stayed in a single workman’s room, which I assume would be different to the majority of the other motel units. The room had a comfortable QS & single bed with satisfactory (mismatched) linen & pillows. The air conditioner worked fine, although was a bit noisy. I... More

Would not recommend this motel even as a last resort. It was dirty, rodent poo up the walls. Bugs running around the fridge seals. Furniture and decor broken and dated. Towels were rough and the bed linen was stained and dirty.

The Gateway Motel is a typical country town Australian motel in a town with few services for tourists, except for the caravan (trailer) parks. The room was clean, and the best part was that there was plenty of light. It was bright, which we have found over the years isn't typical in motels such as this. Wireless internet was $20... More

The room had a kitchen lounge a large area but the sofa had a split in it. It was two bedrooms. One had a good size double and a single in it. The other had two singles. These are very narrow and no good for anyone over 12 years of age. It was clean but needed a deep clean in... More
